I know many posters offer special lines. Like if 2 baseball teams are playing and say the sbrbook has team
    A -150 and team b +130.

I see posters offer team B for +160 and give a maximum number of points one can wager. Isn't this a bad idea? I mean if they do something like this, then a person could just bet the +160 with this poster then bet the other team -150 in the SBR book for guarantee profit even though it would be for a very small amount of sbr points?

Right, a small amount of points. Who would get excited over a few points?

    Nevermind, some do...

Maybe the person offering the special line really likes the other side and just wants to make things interesting on the forum. If his special line fails to cash for the takers, he looks like a swami.

Its usually more like -180 and +110 in the SBR book. And the poster offers something like +150. But from time to time, yes, there is hedging opportunities. Its not a bad idea to hedge, but why bother trying to make 3 points when you get like 6 free ones every day. If its worth your time then do it, but sometimes its fun just to gamble at good odds.

Why do they do it? Bragging rights. Forum respect. If I take a +200 team and offer you +500 it'll get a lot of attention and some posters like that.

One could take ( in theory) much more action on a special. I don't know the SBR book limits, but if it was say 1,000 points, one could perhaps get several thousand more points on the desired side but giving a too good price should fail over time. If a game is a pick'em at Matchbook prices ( say -101/ +100) then somebody like FH offers +110 on one side of it ( probably -110 both ways at SBR) that's an opinion play.

You won't win offering +110 against MB's true pick line, it's more for fun. FH doesn't take 5,000 points ( maybe $500 real money) on stuff like this, maybe 200 points then he closes it, kind of a gimmick actually.

I split the vig on sides I want, to be fair about it. If it is -110/ -110, I offer +100 but limited to maybe 100 points or so, depends what I have, I lost all my offers today.

None of these characters with special lines book anything substantial, reality is like $20 in total action. Fishhead closes it 10 minutes after opening it, others go like 5 point limits, or even less.

These things are like $5 limit bets, or even less !

I like to split the 20 cents of vig and trust the other guy to pay after the game is over. It hasn't failed me yet.

We are talking like 100 SBR points ( maybe $10 ?). at thousands of points I'd do the FH thing and request points first.

It's comical if somebody stiffs you for 50 SBR points or so, IMO ! 1,000 points becomes real money, though !
