I used to make book out of the Bennigans here in town. I was a permanent fixture in the place, & if I wasn't there you could speak with one of my associates.
It was the best bar in town by far. I kinda held court there & had alot of input in what went on, the owner was my boy. I booked the bands for the parties & shit like that. He got into some trouble for taxes & had to resign, so a franchisee out of Baton Rouge bought it, it was a corporate run store and it was great, they wanted money & thats it.
These fuks started changing everything. They said they couldnt believe there was a Bennigans in the US that had a security guard at the door. We had college night on Wed $5 beer bust bottomless cup. They cut that out. They said they wanted it to be a family restaurant. I told them that this place has been a college bar since it was built way before it was a Bennigans, & it has been a college bar since. It was the first place in town to serve liquor by the drink.
Long story short, the Syndicate dropped its patronage & they went out of business within a year.
