    Identification Stolen at BetMGM

So last week my debit card was used to make purchases (hacked). I was lucky enough to have notifications from my bank on my phone so I was able to stop it after 3 transactions went thru in a matter of less than 2 minutes. After I shut my card down, they made another 20 attempts from different merchants.

I was figuring it had to be someone at a sportsbook who stole card info.

Fast forward to today and I get an email from MGM telling me all my info was stolen (hacked). They knew my ID was stolen back on November 28th but just informed me today!!!!

This is CRIMINAL by MGM to withhold this info for so long! I will be seeking damages! Now I have to do all this shit with my credit report, etc to see what else happened.

    Beware

The three transactions? Any possibility security cameras caught it? Sucks, if law enforcement does not pursue it.

Identity theft is my biggest fear!

It's a pain in the ass to right that ship, the thief is just applying for cards on your perfect creddit rating and charging up massive debt under your social # and good name.

One day you go into your local grocery store and lay down your card to pay for groceries and your card is denied. Then all your other cards are denied. You scratch your head wondering why?

You quickly find out IDENTITY THEFT JUST HAPPENED TO YOU!

Got the email too bigjoe. They said back in May for me. Same thing about free credit. To imagine how much they must pay to stop hacking in the first place and now they got popped? WTF! I don't think they tried ever running my card like they did to you. Keep your eyes on that credit report bigjoe just to make sure. Check it every day for a while.

Jibbby, I was arrested before because of identity theft, it’s a very bad thing. Luckily- when I got to the jail they looked at the multitude of mug shots under my name. I spent thousands cleaning this up only to find out it was my own brother. Long story short- I could have sent him to prison but chose not to. He ended up there anyway. Identity theft is misery.

Law enforcement won't do anything, because the courts throughout the country have become a joke and won't prosecute anyone unless it is a felony.

BINGO. They put it on the plaintiff who really doesn’t have the time or desire to do anything other than stopping it.

Who the fuk has a debit card?

    ~~
I've had my identity stolen and going to ten different police stations...
one after another, you find out that they have little to no concern.

Identity theft is one huge nightmare and the amount of time and energy
    to get satisfaction is ridiculous.
Thankfully my banks and cr cds covered everything.

If you have a good bank you can contest the three charges and they’ll fix it. If you have a bank that won’t do that then leave that shitty bank.
Also get a new card. You won’t get a penny from mgm. You are much better off letting your bank handle it with them. But honestly this stuff happens a lot, just take the above steps and you’ll be fine. A few months ago someone got their electricity bill paid via my card. I did the above stuff and easy fix

Yes, I’ll eventually get the money back. It’s gonna take weeks according to the bank.

For those of you who say why would you use cards to gamble, it’s because it’s so easy and free. USA books don’t take creditt kards so we have to use the debit cards if you want instant withdrawals. My withdrawals are instantly put back in my
bank account via the debit card.

Getting credit/debit card info stolen is very common now. It has nothing to do with gambling.

Yea I have that too. I just liked the instant withdrawal to my bank via debit card cause it's pretty much instant. There's been times I'm at the casino and needed access to funds quickly so I take a book withdrawal then head to the ATM. The bank withdrawal takes at least until the next day to appear in my bank account.

    You should be fine.

I did a full review of my credit report yesterday through that Experian they gave us, no attempts have been made to open anything new but some of my info was found on the dark web. So now I have all my info being monitored in case someone tries to use it.

Banks almost never pursue it legally. And if you demand they do they will often threaten to not reverse the payments until the police investigation is completed. Which may never happen.

Banks suck and enable the scammers and throw their merchants under the bus to be stuck losing merchandise and payments.

from every stupid payment plan known to man (dave/chime/cashapp/etc), and many of them multiple times... to someone freaking driving for instacart with my name/social... to someone else collecting social security in my name... total nightmare over and over again

if you haven't done it already, sign up for the PIN program, then nobody can file except you

of course, it's the us government so the website is under maintenance right when you would want to sign up... but hopefully back and running 1/10/2023
