Baker Mayfield Traded to Panthers
The Cleveland Browns reportedly traded quarterback Baker Mayfield to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for a conditional 2024 fifth-round pick.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the news, noting the two teams will split Mayfield's $18.9 million salary. Mayfield will face his former team in Week 1 as the Panthers host the Browns to start the regular season.

I thought Mayfield played his best last year. If you can protect him he can throw the pig skin. He's surely better then Cam Fignewton.. Panthers upgraded for sure.

Mayfield will have a chip on his shoulder and the Panthers have some nice skill players.

Jimmy G is a good quarterback. Shanahan is a good play caller but HORRENDOUS game manager. Guy never knows when to take a little air out of the football. Also he calls plays late in games for Jimmy G that aren’t to his strengths and it has cost them quite a few times in big games and then Jimmy gets the blame. He should of never gotten a pass for blowing that massive lead in the SuperBowl as a result of his inability to manage a game.

The Panthers will pay $4.85 million of Mayfield's salary, while the Browns will pay $10.5 million, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Mayfield agreed to convert the remainder of his $18.8 million salary into incentives to facilitate the deal, which is pending a physical. Mayfield can earn back that money based on team performance, a source said.
Now, what happens to Sam Darnold?
Interesting how one team ends up with the #1 and #3 draft picks from just 4 years ago.

I think he had a good "coverin" year a couple of years ago, but not last year.
It's interesting to see if the books see this as a positive (making the panthers, say, a pt better) or not.
Gotta check on how the week 1 line on the panthers and browns has been affected.

Baker is good enough to be in NFL for a few more years. He is a starter. When healthy he is an exciting QB. Not a Superbowl type, but good enough to win games.
mayfield will benefit a lot from mccaffrey as a safety net as long as mccaffrey stays healthy.
brisset can manage a game with chubb and hunt. he won't come back from 21 down in the 4th but as long as the browns defense plays good brisset is not bad back there.
