    Georgia covers for its Dawgs

    Anyone see that ending?

Georgia down 7 and they let Florida run the last 16 seconds instead of fouling.

    Spread was ~ -8.

Since when do college teams not foul down 7 with 16 seconds left?

You could see them almost fouling and it seemed like maybe there were people telling them not to.

Very suspicious ending. You see so much shady shit in hoops. Both college and nba. The numbers are manipulated like crazy after the straight up winner is decided. Happens in many games. Big schools always like to keep alumni boosters happy by covering if they can’t win. Keeps money coming in.

Yeah. All you can really do is make sure you get the best number possible and, in general, take the points on those 8+ point spreads.

d2, this is a great post.

7 is a very interesting #, pro vs college.

In the NBA, it's a long season. You play 3x per week. Down 7 w/ <20 seconds left and OPP holding ball, a pro knows he's dead. A Coll player, however, doesn't know any better so they keep trying.

Your example is spot-on. USUALLY...in NBA, the +8 holds and the -8 dribbles out. In college, the +8 will foul and it's one more chance for the Fav to get over the #.

BTW, the only time I recall something like this in Coll was Louis/KY in the Final Four.

Pitino was coaching Louis, after he had been at KY. Outside of Nevada...KY is a huge gambling state b/c of all the horses.

Game was right around the #. KY is dribbling it out. Pitino says "Don't Foul."

Maybe that's sportsmanship. But he's also doing a huge solid for the alums, who get to hang the # and cash.

Yes, exactly. I've seen college teams down 10 or 11 still fouling with 10 seconds. But 7 with 16 seconds should be an auto-foul and you could see they were about to do it when they were called off.
