Talk to me about OK State / Miami

I don't really have a favorite NCAA football team (I'm a U Conn homer) I root for Alabama because my wife is a long time Tide fan so I pretty much watch all the games level headed with an open mind.

I've seen Miami and OK State play twice, three times this season.
Just going on the 'eye test' and before I get into my nerdy, geeky analytics I think OK State is the better team based on what I have seen.

Miami has not done anything for me since starting off 3 and 0.
I really think they started believing all that hype back then.
What have the Hurricanes really showed in the past 2 1/2 months except blow out the Dookies?

I saw that TCU game where the Cowboys got beat on that long TD pass play, that was disappointing, and I turned off that OU blow out game because it just wasn't that interesting and I really thought Okie State was going to give them a better game.

    Who saw the Texas game?
I did. You can't tell me State didn't get robbed by some of those late calls.
All in all I think they are a good three loss team and better than Miami.
(Based on the old 'eye test')

Just got done with me geeky analytic numbers with the help of Sagarin's databases.
Okie State according to most metrics had the tougher schedule all the other numbers are pretty much no big difference,

Okie State has been running the ball well lately without Hubbard which surprises me some, I was just reading where Miami's D-Ends are going to miss this game due to declaring pro,

I really think Sanders can torch Miami.
Sagarin (my go to college football geek) has Ok. State 4.5 better in this game.
And since he knows more than me and I also think he's right here, why not.

    54 dollars (-108 Heritage) to win 50
    Oklahoma State -1

No way will Miami play worse than they did against UNC. Miami has a chance with King at qb.

I would lean Oklahoma State but neither of these teams give a damn. If one of them does, it will be a blowout.

I could see if it was a team like Tulane missing their D-Line because depth would not replace the same, but this is Miami. They've got backups that are better than Tulane's starters. Not in all cases, but case in point.

And the Refs are going to be blowing their whistles and throwing flags to keep the game close so joe public will stay tuned...

I don’t agree on the motivation issue. 9th graders playing JV basketball get motivated to play. Two top 25 teams will be motivated to win on ESPN.

I follow them and the Big 12. The OSU offensive line is awful. I like Miami. Honestly, I like anybody going against a BIG 12 team. The offenses have crashed in the Big 12 this year. That makes their defenses look better. They are not.

    And I agree with this.

I played organized sports, I would say a lot of posters here have played organized sports.

Albeit a pickup game of hoops on the blacktop or a D1 NCAA football game, once that game starts and you are on that court or that field or whatever you are playing for real.
It's the nature of the beast.

Rog, you’re right I haven’t watched a lot, but, I have watched some.

I think you’re confusing bad football teams with lack of motivation. The motivation is there in 95% of these games, but there are a lot of bad teams playing in bowl games.

No, I am basing it on bad bowl bets. I would not touch this game with a 10-foot pole.

    I won’t argue that.

However, I’m meeting some buddies for drinks and cigars soon and some ACTION is necessary.

Oklahoma State is the play Miami is missing a lot on defense. Jaelan Phillips and Quincy Roche are sitting out waiting for the draft. The Canes are also without Jason Blissett, that's three defensive lineman. In addition safety Amari Carter the second leading tackler on the team is out. Take OKState here!!

I see Miami is turning in their usual bowl performance. They have lost 9 of their last 10 bowl games.
