I have been saying that California should have opened a while ago, but I actually agree with the current shut down. The main and only reason: in the last 2 weeks hospitals have reached max occupancy with COVID cases; without open beds, there is a higher risk of death. I know that all or almost all deaths have been of people 65 and older, or health issues, so some might argue than that they shouldn't have to shutdown and shelter in place; but the while the hospitals are full the spreading the virus needs to be slowed down. We can't stop the virus, because, well, it is a virus, but we can slow it down.
