Of course they did, they needed their cut. Tell me if they are for the people, how does a $25 mil add-on for the Kennedy Center help? There are many other add-ons the democrats inserted, over $2.3 BILLION worth.

You must be one of those old guys that prefers Amtrak to get to other states when you travel. I'll fly anytime, even budget airlines if needed over Amtrak or personal vehicle. Flying is much safer and more efficient. This is America though so you're free to choose the train or car if you wish. Just watch out for all the drunks on the roads and delays in rail service.

People who are on their parents insurance, have a free roof over their head and eat for free shouldn't get $1,200 (my child included).

    here you go scumbag

I’m responding to Bea Mackey’s April 6 letter, “Democrats padded stimulus bill with their pet projects.” Instead of parroting propaganda from unfair and imbalanced “news” programs, maybe she can research talking points that aren’t rooted in fact.

The Kennedy Center relief package was a bipartisan agreement, not a Democratic Party pet project. Mackey is concerned about helping sick Americans while Trump is in court trying to take away their healthcare. She’s concerned about job losses; Democrats fought for and got an extra $600 per week in employment benefits. She’s concerned with Americans losing their homes; Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy signed a moratorium on evictions and foreclosures.
What about the $500 billion corporate slush fund, now that Trump has removed Glenn Fine from the fund’s watchdog role?
And maybe, just maybe, if Trump showed any concern for this pandemic in the 70 days leading up to it, instead of golfing and holding his propaganda rallies, the U.S. would look more like South Korea in mitigation with a far less damaged economy.
One last point on the Kennedy Center: “The life of the arts, far from being an interruption, a distraction, in the life of the nation, is close to the center of a nation’s purpose — and is a test to the quality of a nation’s civilization.” ― John F. Kennedy

Why should people get an extra $600 a week to stay at home while others are working? There are places that need help, but cant fill the jobs because people would rather eat cheetos and post all day (can't really blame them).

Yep. Why the hell would I try to go back to work when I could sit and make $600 plus whatever unemployment is paying me (a few hundred in most cases) thru July???

Unfortunately for me I still have to work every day.

If I'm laid off and thoroughly expecting to return to the same job at some point, why would I find a new job and make less working than I would staying at home? My #1 responsibility is to increase the number in my bank account as quickly as possible, to pay for necessities for my family.

Not enough to warrant a 500 billion bailout.

The construction industry has 100 times more jobs and they are not taking a bailout. You have iron workers, concrete workers, wood framers, plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians, painters, landscapers, etc and they are stuck home without a paycheck and no bailouts like the airline employees.

And pile drivers...... yet here is the thing so in my state Washington the state department of transportation projects like the one I’m currently on ect most theses contractors are great full to get shut down by the state, delays will not be put on them... basically no one really loses if anything the state and most those workers in construction receive max unemployment so like 790 in wa state a week plus the 600 coming you get 1390 a week. If you can’t survive on that for a while your fuked up....and like my job is already funded it’s a 3 year job so when the state opens back up it will be business as usual..... who is really hurting is these small self owned residential construction companies.....my neighbor does concrete drive ways...no one wants people around even to do a bid everyone afraid and no one especially wants a crew in their home doing work right now.....

I hear you. The small construction companies that do home renovations are hurt the most. But the larger companies are hurt to as jobs are on a snail pace to finish now and the owners want them finished up to lease and start earning income.

But yeah lets bail out Boeing and Delta and let the millions in construction industry to hang out dry.

Yes I hear yah I was mostly speaking on federal and state transportation projects these are the jobs most these large construction companies want as most states are a fukin joke and a job they bid to make say a million ends up making 20 because the state is stupid and change orders are where the money is at.....basically I have been saying for years the state’s need to propose a say bridge or highway project only hire a 3rd party to inspect work and leave it all on the contractors shoulders....this will fix the blame game that goes on....I have been on job sites and have done things I knew made 0 sense and would not work....my superintendent told me that’s what the state wants so we do them.....they don’t work ok so now the contractor looks at the state and says well you told us to do this so now we have to fix it it’s on you and it will cost this much.....this is how they make money....and they do it all the time. Last job I was on was anchor installation.... on a floating bridge....I have done a few hundred of these over the years the state wanted to do things completely different then we have ever done....so we told them it would not work they insisted end game they paid millions because it did not work and contractor made millions.....it’s all a blame game most these large construction companies just make money with lawyers....

And btw I think Boeing did not take the bail out money.
