    King Felix tribute

Last game in Seattle this week

Made me some money for several years a few years ago
It was fun to watch the King's court and having a winner on Felix

    too lazy to google.

does he have remotely cooperstown-stats?.... i personally think these 3 factors should get more weight than they do for HoF: 1) short-term dominance, 2) important player on alot of winning teams, 3) one franchise mostly, "face of a franchise"... felix definitely has #3. not sure about #1 or #2.. my guess is his stats miss by alot, although there won't be many pitchers winning 250+ games these days.

looks like felix was on track for HoF but deteriorated too much in recent years.

here's something you can compare to most time periods.. Cy Young votes : 1st (1 time), 2nd (2 times), 4th, 7th, 8th (once each on those)

i see Felix is 5th amongst active pitchers for cumulative Cy Young votes. probably a few actives will pass him but that's pretty good.

way ahead of CC Sabathia and surprisingly Zach Greinke.. way beyond Kershaw (state obvious) and will be way behind JV and Scherzer in time.

King Felix has been a bum lately. Who would sign him?

King Felix is not a HOF candidate and his overall 15 year stats will not help him either with HOF considerations. I had the pleasure of watching him perform live in person on the MLB stage when he first came up and his stuff was simply electric. I’ve seen a lot of live MLB games in my lifetime and I don’t ever remember a kid who dominated veteran hitters like King Felix did. Ever.

Seattle didn’t do his career longevity any favors by bringing him along so early. But they had no choice. He was really that great. Felix could have moved on to another team for more money. He chose to give Seattle a home team discount. And for that he gains my utmost respect as a fan of the game.
