They have Chicago at + 4.5 -115, why would they do that when everyone else has it at +3 or +3.5. I have noticed all this week that their lines are sometimes diffrent than everyone else?

#2They run a dual line and profile you.
If you always tend to bet favorites, you will always get inflated favorites. If you tend to bet dogs, the lines will be lower.
So they tend to get an extra point on most favorite bets and occasionally catch a fat middle.
Sounds like they haven't tagged you as a dog player yet.Comment -

#4They deal the dual lines to those who have to call in
If you are identified as a winning pro, they no longer take internet bets and you must call in your picks. If you call in a bet, they will often give you a line that is different than the line everyone else is getting.
The reason they have inflated favorites, is because almost all their bettors allowed to bet on the net are recreational bettors, and these bettors prefer favs and overs, rather than dogs or unders.
Go over to pinnacle or Olympic, and you find a book that takes everyone - pros, recreational bettors, small bettors, big bettors, and the lines tends to be sharp, and right where they should be although there still is some leaning towards favs and overs because of recreational bettors in the audience there.
I don't believe bodog gives different lines on your screen based on your userid. If they do, that could actually set up an advantageous situation. If you usually bet dogs, then they will occasionally give you a great bet if you prefer the fav.Comment -

#8Just hammer some of those square lines, they will switch you to the sharper ones pretty soon and you can move to a real book. Bodog is on its way down anyway as i see it, i would not feel save there right now.Comment -

#10Sure they do. It's been covered on the forums over the years. Two friends both log in at the same time and get different numbers. I would bet they not only profile your preference for favorites or dogs, but if you have a favorite team you like to play.Comment -

#12From my experience it don't seem to be this clear cut.
I've been betting $200 per game forever and have been a long term winner with them and the lines have not been switched.
I have a friend who bets max all the time and is a total square and huge overall loser (I know because he is under my affiliate account at Bodog) and he gets sharp lines. I've compared them many times with him through messenger.
Also it seems they have more than just 2 sets of lines. I've noticed that Bodog NEVER has offered me the best price on what should be the home teams for me, this is the only adjustment I've noticed and i don't think I could of done much to trigger it because I'm not a fan of any particular team so much that I would let it affect a betting decision.
In any case I use two handfuls of sportsbooks and ALWAYS bet at whichever has the best line and over the years I've used Bodog quite often, but this football season I use them more than any other book.Comment -

#13two different lines depending on which way you bet
JC, so if you always bet dogs, when you log in the lines will be smaller. Isn't this a great deal, if once in a while you prefer to bet the fav?
For example, if the line is +7 they are going to give you -6.5 because you always bet dogs. This is your chance to bet the fav, then. Maybe the line should be -6.5 -115 and they put up -7 for all their square bettors. When you log in your line is -6.5 -110 because they think you are going to bet dog. If your handicapping showed the fav to be your bet you can really hit them with a line that is better than the -6.5 -115 being offered everywhere else.Comment -

Something that isn't obvious to many customers is the way some online casinos set the odds. Calvin Ayre, founder of Bodog.com, one of the world's biggest sports books, says that computers at his Costa Rican site identify each bettor and then personalize the odds. Such player profiling cannot occur in the legal sports books in Las Vegas because those casinos publish their lines in newspapers. Ayre says the individual odds are nothing more than a high-tech version of the traditional bookie's practice of taking advantage of, say, a Philadelphian's emotional tendency to bet on the Eagles. "They have the choice to take our offer or the other side," or to go to another site, Ayre says.Comment -

#17Most books profile and boot you based upon the type of bets you make rather than the amounts or win %.
Here's something that I find interesting. In small market sports, Pinny will set different limits for players.Comment -

#18I still don't think it is true, but if so SBR needs to take action now
What lines is Bodog giving SBR for SBR's line service?
They need to give a range, instead of a "bait and switch" number.Comment -

#19Even at just a couple hundred per game, Nine kicked me out after 2 weeks, Bowmans changed my lines quickly, Mansion took away my teasers but other than those 3 I've been lucky I guess.
I am not doubting Bodog profiles certain people because I know for a fact they do. For some reason though Bodog has never changed my lines - and I only ever bet with them when they have the best line available.
I do bet favorites on prop bets because these guys are clueless i must be 40-0-X (some were no action) on their crazy easiest money ever prop bets. Things like will Sony change the price for PSP3 prior to release. With all that money already spent on marketing, with retail stores already having all their flyers made out at the Price they are not allowed to sell it for less than and the chances of them changing price was about 0% but Bodog puts a line at something like -1200 a couple week before the release.
Also on some boxing matches Bodog has the best favorite price anywhere but very small limits, usually I just take those as an arb.
90% of my bets are dog, 10% are on HUGE favorites that are mostly prop bets. I've sucked every dime of value I can out of Bodog for years and still get the dog lines - I can't tell ya why but maybe their change don't come until someone starts betting big. My bets are near always $200 per game, sometimes $100. I don't want to Jinx it so I've never bet more than that there that I recall.Comment -

#21Most of those bets are to win $50 or to win $100 max when they do crazy prop bets like that.
I bother with these $50 ones because they are most often free money. The only question on some of them are they going to get no actioned or not - I usually have to email Bodog for clarifications because the wording is always vague.
Like Bodog just might as well put up something like:
Will Jesus Christ Return tomorrow?
Yes +500
No -1500
because many of their prop bets are just as silly.Comment
