    Latest on Dallas Cowboys Contracts

    Per SportsdayDFW:
Quarterback Dak Prescott, running back Ezekiel Elliott and wide receiver Amari Cooper all have contract offers in front of them from the Dallas Cowboys.

    Now the waiting begins.
A source told SportsDay's Calvin Watkins that offers have been extended to the respective agents of Prescott, Elliott and Cooper, and that the Cowboys are now just waiting on counteroffers in order to get deals finalized.

None of the offers, the source said, would make any of the three the NFL's highest-paid player at his respective position

This information is in line with comments recently made by Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones, who was very firm in this stance: the Cowboys will not reset the market in their negotiations with any one of these three core players.
"We can't push the issue unless we want to be a market-setter," Jones said on KTCK-AM 1310 and 96.7 FM The Ticket on July 31, the same day the New Orleans Saints made Michael Thomas the league's highest-paid receiver. "And we're damn sure not going to be a market-setter because of all the things that go with being a Dallas Cowboy. ...
"When we save money, whether it's with Dak, whether it's with Zeke, whether it's with Amari, it's not saving Jerry and I a dollar. It's just money that's going to another player."
But the Cowboys are faced with a pressing matter on Elliott. He's holding out looking for a new contract, and Jones has previously noted that Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley's deal (four-year extension worth $57.5 million with $45 million in guarantees) is a good starting point.
According to Watkins, the Cowboys are now trying to give Elliott a contract which ranges closer to that of the New York Jets' Le'Veon Bell (four years, $52.5 million with $27 million guaranteed, according to Spotrac.com), which would make him the league's No. 2-paid running back.

Elliott, like Prescott, is probably seeking the most guaranteed money for a player at his position. It's similar to Cowboys right guard Zack Martin, who has the highest guaranteed money in the NFL at $40 million.
But will the Cowboys have any choice but to pay Elliott top-ranked guaranteed money?
According to a report from ESPN's Josina Anderson, Elliott will not play this season without a new contract. But she also added that Elliott not playing, according to her source, remains unlikely.

These developments come on the heels of comments made by Pro Football Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson on Monday, who said on FS1's Undisputed: "I talked to Zeke's agent yesterday, and he said, 'It's possible. It really is possible he will miss some games.'"

In my mind, he’s a mid-tier QB (at best).

Dak is an average QB, Zeke is a top RB, and Cooper is a good receiver. The Cowboys should be paying Zeke, then Dak, then Cooper.

Dallas has their #1 QB, CB, WR, RB and also LB too right? Running back is the last position in that group that you should pay.
I also wouldn't pay Dak the money he wants. He will go from one of the most valuable players in the league thanks to the rookie contract to the least valuable if they decide to pay him 30+ million.
Be brave, don't pay Dak and don't pay Zeke.

Unreal the conflicting personalities on this team lol Top positions all Rookies at one point.... now they think their Veterans. lol

What we do know... all baby bitches on this team.

What we don't know... will Jerry give in? And will they gel together after doing so?

Way too much drama early in the year... and not 1 preseason game yet!

Let Elliot sit. If you do extend the contract you must have a void clause for off field behavior.

Yea but landscape of the NFL it doesn’t matter that what you saying true cause if you don’t pay him then what the alternative? We been seeing lot of mid level QBs get top money. In his defense he has def outperformed the shit money he been getting and he saved their asses when Romo went down, I’m sure his agent likes pointing that out, lol.

This sh#$ would never happen in the New England Patriots organization. Why does it happen to all the other teams?

If Zeke don’t play their chances of making playoffs are slim to none. Jerry might be right when he says you don’t need a top stud back to win championships but this team the way it constructed does!

Most teams don’t have the coach, qb, staff, to win with scheme and smarts.

Bad teams stay bad for a reason. Patriots have the organization, the coaches.

Yea, I dunno. Without looking at schedule I’d guess they right around 9-7ish team on the fringe. Might make it, might not. Without Zeke no shot imo and prob more like a 7-9 or 6-10 team.
