    SBR Poker next event

So we completed our recent SBR Poker Main Event and it was again a great success. The next event is in the works but we want to hear from you guys as to the format. Should there be a monthly event say May Poker event ? Or another 3 month long event? Maybe someone has a new idea that we all would like. Pleas post any POSITIVE comments here so we can continue to grow poker.

You should have a bad beat jackpot each tourney for the player with the best hand that they go bust on. Mitigates the rigged software frustration

Month long event sounds good to me. Sure, it makes the variance rather high, very easy for any one person not to qualify for the Final via just running bad for a few weeks, but I think it'd be better in general to have month long events than three month long events.

I think more people would be inclined to participate since they don't have to devote as much time overall in order to qualify for the "end" event. And just keeps things more interesting to have those end of series events more often rather than every three months, spreads the wealth a bit more, rather than making it all about one big event after three months which obviously has a lot of short term variance!

    Month event

While I’m single, many posters here are not. Many have kids and wives. To play most days for 3 months is a bit much.

I would do an alternating month poker tournament. Like one for May, qualify/championship first week of June, then nothing until July.

Give 3 weeks off for 4-5 weeks of play and repeat

Agreed 3 months is too long. 1 month or 2 at the most

1 month events would be great. Individual events also. I'm always the weak link when it comes to groups so hate to disappoint the team set up.

Yes, bringing back something similar to the triathlon sounds good to me. After all SBR is mostly devoted to sports betting not poker so a contest which combines both of those skills seems like it would be fun to me. Adding a casino element to it would also be ok, as long as it's not weighted too highly (since that part would be nearly all luck), but not a huge deal.

45-60 days of qualifying, ie, 1 1/2 - 2 months, depending on the "prize".... the bigger the payouts in a final trny, the longer the qual period....

a smaller pot, like this past one, one month is good... five k top prize, 1 1/2 to 2 months would be about right....

it may be time for this baby again, or has it been a year yet?

3 month long contest. Prizes given based off your standings for the 3 month period. The 3 months of qualifying is relatively meaningless when your result in the Main Event is all that matters.

it would be interesting to try this idea and maybe the numbers for the daily tournaments would increase as well.

This would decrease the number of participants immensely. No one would would compete against the 10 SBR pros. The fact that you can qualify for a chance at 1000 gives the small guy, the average joe, a chance at winning.

The qualifiers also make it possible to not have to play everyday. For people with families, the average joe, a prize pool only based on standings would be unattractive as they would not be able to play everyday.

A paid buy in satellite to get into the main event each weekend.

As well as the normal weekday qualifying.

I long thought this would be a good idea, at least in theory. But in practice, I don't think it would work to be honest. As has been shown, there definitely is collusion/chip dumping in tourneys from time to time, and that format would open the door to all sorts of abuse of that type. Say two people in the last week are the only ones with realistic chance for first, one of them recruits someone out of contention to dump to them that entire week - could significantly alter the chances. By having the final event independent of whether you finish 1st or 10th in the qualifying period, it certainly lessens the motivation to abuse the system that way.

This is how Foxwoods does their monthly/yearly leaderboard tournaments and I'm sure many others. This is a great thought.

This is another idea that was floated around in years past - not a bad one imo as it does reward those who finish at the very top but not anything too huge so not ton of motivation to try to abuse it to make sure you get say 1st rather than 2nd in qualifying stage.

Problem is though, that that might not be doable by the software to start everyone off at a different stack essentially.

That sounds cool. But yeah like ArunSh says, it's possible the SBR software can't even do that

How about 6weeks of Regular Season for a happy medium? Then u could have qualfiers + Final30 the next week. And a week or two to cool off.

I do think the Regular Season top10 should merit some sort of small reward.

6 or 8 weeks for qualifying period.
Make up tourneys on Saturday or Sunday when poker software glitches and boots players before or during a game.

I think if you keep the satellites, you are already rewarding the top 20, but I like this idea if the satellites were dumped.

The problem is, if you only reward leaderboard then the same 10 people will always win the prizes, which does not encourage new players to participate. There has to be SOME luck factor involved (such as final tournament with qualifiers) in final prizes being awarded if you want to help SBR poker grow.

I've commented several times so I'll shut up now, sorry.
