Free agent wide receiver Demaryius Thomas was arrested Wednesday after a passenger in his car was seriously injured as a result of a rollover this month.
Thomas turned himself into police Wednesday and faces charges of vehicular assault, reckless driving and driving without insurance, according to online jail records. Vehicular assault is a felony, while the other two charges are misdemeanors.
Thomas, 31, was due to appear in Denver County Court on Thursday morning. His agent did not immediately reply to an email from USA TODAY Sports seeking comment.
The charges stem from a rollover crash near downtown Denver Feb. 16. According to an arrest affidavit obtained by USA TODAY Sports, Thomas was going at least 70 miles per hour in a 30-mph zone on Auraria Parkway when his silver Ford Edge struck a raised median. The car "tumbled end over end," according to police, before landing on its wheels.
Thomas and the two passengers in the vehicle were transported to a local hospital. One of the passengers suffered "serious bodily injuries" as a result of the crash, according to police.
