I think the Vegas Golden Knights succes might have been rigged.

Just look at the new franchises in the MLS.

    Atlanta utd. and LA FC

They let them win game after game to build the brand asap. Part of a deal between league and franchise owners.

    Fixing bastards!

in the MLS the league owns all the players and assigns them to the teams at their discretion. have you ever heard of an MLS draft or signing of players. teams need league permission before they can add player not owned by league.

So you're saying the rest of the NHL skates a game against the Knights and just lets them win?

That would be event fixing and people would go to jail

Too many people would have to know about it for that to ever work

no need to win the cup thats too much, but near is perfect. always the "too many would have to know to not get exposed silly talk". yet basketball games have been fixed with 1 player in on it. just playing devil's advocate here

No, you just tell the Knights to win a lot of games. That's a lot easier than getting the other teams to lose.

Won't argue with the counter posts. It's just a conspiracy theory atm based on the mentioned pattern I picked.

Need better research. Look back in history for other examples.

New franchise doesn't have the same brand value...So does makes sense though to boost it through manipulation. Maybe the owners wouldn't have invested otherwise?...Who knows.

Aren't all American leagues like that though? Atlanta and LAFC looked okay on paper at the start of the season but not amazing and LAFC have come back to earth a bit lately, Atlanta are just on an incredible roll much like the Knights were. Orlando must of spent big when they joined and have been average and NY City have huge backing so not surprising to see them do okay instantly.

atlanta in the mls spent alot of money that's why they are so good, minnesota decided not to spend money and that's why they are near the bottom every year

I've wondered about the prosecutorial end of this.... after all, what is the difference if a basketball team sits it's best players and improved its lottery position and a basketball team that wins a game by 6 and not 6.5 because they intentionally miss a FT to keep clock going?

I dont see how the definition of match fixing plays equally into the punishment side of things.

That said...hockey guys dont throw games. Vegas Knights overachieved and they will regress.

I'd say they spent wisely? Not like they have any huge names it's mostly guys that were decent in the MLS. No one could of predicted Matinez's season at a guess I'd say LAFC, NYC and even Orlando must of gone bigger than them?
