Again this is not golf you need young guys Paul has dead legs and is very very injury prone and a guy that cannot play any sort of defense or get rebounds

Chris Paul is a decent team help defender but not the greatest Iso defender on the perimeter.. Slowing down, slow of foot.. I watch many Clipper games and that's my opinion of watching Chris Paul play defense this year..

He's 32 years old now and has a lot of miles on that injury prone body of his.....

How long before lebron tells the media that he can't wait to take his talents to houston bc he's got family there in the form of a 2nd cousin?

CP3 has been a great point guard over the years, not hating.. Just see him slowing down a bit now like every NBA player does in their soon to be mid 30's.. He gets injured alot now as well..

they should 3 way trade now to get lamarcus Aldridge. Paul George to spurs, Houston gets Aldridge, and indy gets some picks and more role players.. then Houston has a good team.. still losing to golden st in 5, but whatever.

As a Clipper fan, I can stomach this move is they keep douchebag Griffin and bring back Eric Bledsoe. He was a better fit for Jordan and Griffin anyway.

Houston lost a lot of leads when Harden went to the bench. I see them both starting and ending the games with one of them always being on the floor in between. Eric Gordon can primarily be a shooting guard with less need at the point on the second team. Hate that they traded Sweet Lou. That man was capable of taking over a game at anytime. Saw a rumor that Houston might also look at Carmelo.

Can not see that. Harden and Paul will dominate possession of the rock. They need support players not another player like Melo.

In the past 40 years of the NBA. Only about 10 different teams have made the finals in the West. Lakers have about 16 of those, but have not won over 27 games in over 5 years.... Their history is LA winning basketball but they are the bottom of the NBA now.
I sure Clippers didn't pickup CP3 just to make playoffs every year but who knows they are the Clippers and that would be the difference between the Clippers and Lakers. Yes Lakers been down for awhile but if you watch NBA you can see its not going to be for long as you see the young talent Lakers have and if rumors are true about PG13 coming to Lakers in 2018 or sooner.if Lonzo Ball can handle the pressure and we will see this year cause he has to cover his big mouth daddy statement of Lakers making playoffs this year. Also probably the biggest pressure Lonzo ball has is if he doesn't do well the families 3BB Brand will go down big time. But if Lonzo is that guy that 3BB BRAND will be the next big thing. Big time pressure on the kid.

Lou Williams was the best player on the Lakers squad when he got traded for Brewer.. Brewer is decent but I hated letting go of Lou Williams on the Purple and Gold...

Lou gets bounced around the league alot for a guy that is as good is he is, even is labeled a 6th man when he could arguable start on any team and produce good numbers.. Jamal Crawford is another guy like Lou Williams...

Who's getting hung up on style of play being a factor? These guys are top 3 if not best at their respective positions. They'll adjust fine, they not great for no reason

As much of a cancer as melo is, he would thrive in an environment where he a) doesn't need to be a leader and b)never sees a double team

This is nuts with all the analytics, doubt half of the posters ever played competitive ball before let alone a shtty pickup game at the park

holy penetrate this thread made my head hurt. I knew this would happen when the rumors were swirling last night. Houston a better team than Clips/less disfunctional. Pretty sure GS last playoff loss (not finals) was against the Clips. No need to over think this Paul trying to win now

    What a dumb trade.
Why would you want 2 of the best point guards on the same team?
At least both are great shooters.

You have to start somewhere... No team jumps immediately from last to the finals (with the exception of Cle/Lebron) Realistically the NBA is dominated by only a few franchises. Most teams and players do not ever see the finals. Unlike the NFL where any surprise team can have their year, the NBA is fairly predictable on who will make it to the finals. If we all were given two teams to pick from each the East & the West. 90% of the time we would have been right as those teams would both be playing in the conference finals.
I think Lonzo will do good and the Lakers will mirror what the Sixer's have been the last few years. Young, promising talent, with potential that doesn't ever fully blossom. PG13 will be a great addition for them, which should happen.

someone explain to me how this move makes Rockets even close to being on par with the Warriors ?

They gave up the best defensive point guard in basketball
and Lou Williams who is pretty much the purest shooter since Ray Allen/Allen Houston/Curry

Nuts to think this has even made them all that much better?

easy Chris paul has made 6 straight 1st team def teams. They gave up no one that is considered great. Nene should improve. sweet lou was the 3rd pg. Their strength is 3 pt shooting and ariza and ryan anderson are back. The lane is going to be open for c.p. Now if they can get a 4 that can rebound and move anderson to the bench. I think it is the start of a beautiful thing.

This thread is great, did someone regard Lou Williams as the greatest shooter since ray allen?

Guy is a streak shooter at best, there's a reason he's a journeyman

Golden state has 3 of the top 5 shooters in the nba, washington has 1 and the last spot is debatable between guys ranging from Reddick to kyrie

    Lou Williams best pure shooter

Proves my point that most of sbr has never laced up in a real game in their lives before

Good streak shooter is Lou that's it, probably why he comes off the bench.. Jamal Crawford a better streak shooter then Lou if we are talking 6th men coming off the bench.. Lou is a solid player though...

Nene is still around? He's gonna improve? Come on chico. Ryan Anderson, and Ariza?

This is the start of a team that never makes the finals, per the usual. Oh, the NBA Finals. Houston fans are odd. I bet you guys thought Howard was gonna make y'all great. Hakeem and Clyde are gone. Now it's a bunch of old role players with an aging Paul, and overrated Harden. Two guys who never win a thing.

The Clippers made out on this one. Beverely, and Lou have some years left in them. They have to make another move or two, and nail the draft. They won't, but fun to think. Not doing that trade for Melo was so moronic. Paul, and Melo have wanted to play together for a long time.

Eh. Paul, Harden, and Melo could actually work. They can play small ball with Melo at the 4. Then Nene's old ass can just protect the rim, and rebound. Zaza style. A bootleg, older GSW style team. Paul, Harden, Gordon, Melo, any 5, would be interesting to watch.

Maybe Ariza at the 3 to play the Iggy role, then Gordon off the bench. Hell, put Anderson at the 5, and just chuck threes.

capela starts but was hurt a little. Nene ave 10 pts in 18 minutes a game and 5.2 that is why we need a rebounder. Dredmon from san antonio could fill that bill on the cheap. If only we could get melo.

Ill admit that Lou can be streaky but his jumper is silk
Im talking the ball rotation , it just looks pure , im not comparing the pedigree's
notice I even threw Allan Houston in there. You gotta be able to understand what someone is saying
in order to get the point .

Plus their stats are not out of this world different really

    http://www.espn.com/nba/player/stats/_/id/9/ray-allen

    http://www.espn.com/nba/player/stats...9/lou-williams

but of course ray Allen is a better player who made shots more consistently
