What happened to defense in the NBA?
9 games tonight, all of the totals are over 200, most well over

I was looking at the same approximate time of year in 2013 (1/16/2013) and not only were less than half 200 or more, 4 out of 10 were in the 180's. Then I looked at this past monday, 9 of 9 game totals were over 200. On the same monday in 2013, 1 of 8 game totals were over 200.

What's the deal? More 3 point shots attempted?

    It's a terrible product now

Just jump shots and layups with very little resistance

Coaches have no power or leverage to make these star players play D. (except for Popp)

some even have an assistant coach designated as the 'defensive coach'......aka scapegoat

players would rather score points than play defense (see latest version of isiah thomas) gets them a better contract potentially and keeps them on roster longer. fans like to see 3's (which players have totally mastered) and players aim to please. coaches say, well we can still win 110-100 instead of 95-85 so why should i wear them out trying to get them to tighten up the D.

If players put anything into playing both sides of the floor then players like LeBron would have to rest 60% of the season. Its already way to hard for these poor players to play a game 4 nights a week and God forbid playing 2 nights in a row for 2 hours. Can you just imagine how tough that would be?
