    Blazers want a draft do-over
Maybe Yahoo!, who never gets any news first, is jumping the gun but Oden done for the season.

Greg Oden , the Portland Trail Blazers' No. 1 pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, will miss the 2007-2008 season after knee surgery on Thursday, two league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Oden, the 7-footer out of Ohio State, underwent exploratory surgery on his right knee on Thursday in Vancouver. The extent of the damage was not immediately clear, but Oden, one of the most celebrated young players in years, will be lost for the season.

The Blazers are expected to make an announcement shortly.

Hibbert and Oden, the next twin towers. This could work out great for the Blazers, top draft pick two years in a row.

This is a crushing blow for the Blazers this year indeed. I still say when Oden makes a full recovery Portland fans will be very happy they took him #1 overall. This guy will bring a championship to Portland when it's all said and done.

I think they thought they had that with Lamarcus at 6'11.

are you guys kidding, this is great news for Portland, gives them another shot at #1 next year. Oden is the real deal but will not be a super star. He will average about 20pts, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks per game. What else do you need.

This surgery can rob players of their potential and even be career ending.

With how good Aldridge looked in the summer, they will need someone else to go down to get a top pick. Are there any slam dunk rookies out there? Maybe OJ Mayo?

                    Dan,

Perhaps you should have said IF Oden makes a full recovery. If they did microfracture surgery on his knee, as they're reporting on Foxsports, http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/7222114, this could, and I repeat could, be a Penny Hardaway type situation.

how true, i got to see him play in the first rounds at rupp arena this year in the NCAA tour. he is slow and lazy, in the NBA you have to have a good 10-15 footer and maybe even a good hook, he has nothing but underneath scoring skills, either a dunk or a lay-up or tip-in or put-back, thats it.

That sucks for the Blazers and all their fans. Maybe it is good the Celtics didn't get the first pick.
