This sounds like an excuse for why he lost. He never complained about promoting before when he was winning. You are talking about a guy who loves to be in the spotlight and the center of attention. In my opinion he doesn't want to promote because it is going to be tough to do because his opponent already kicked his ass. It's tough to talk shit on a guy that made you tap.
I agree with your statement. All of his trash talk has been before wins. This one will be tough to talk about cause, like you said, Nate already broke him.
I also think Conor should have spoken to Dana and worked this out before it became an issue. Conor could have cut back on the 1 on 1 interviews and the numerous other media requests but to stay way completely... well that's not right either.

I don't know where he is getting this "not paid to promote" crap from. And why wouldn't he want to promote it to benefit himself? Doesn't he get PPV points?
What can he possibly say this time around? It's smart for him to stay away. Then he can't get called on his trash talking.

Nate has a ton of material to use on Conor if he wanted to use it. Hopefully Nate talks some trash and gets in Conor's head.

I could swear that Conor said in an interview once that the months of build up to the fight was just as important as the fight itself because that is where a man can be mentally broken. Conor didn't care when Nate took the fight on a week's notice and did all of the press work despite having zero time to train.

McGregor past promo's built up his own stock.. He lived for the Promotions and interviews in the past and let his mouth do all the talking..

If he never did pre fight conferences or opened his mouth he'd never be where he is at today in this sport.. He's fighting against the very thing that made him big and got him paid.. Laughable...

"Hats off to him for standing up for what he believes is right. At the end of the day, business is business, and the guy obviously has respect for himself and his talents. Fights like this will help fighters in the future. So, I respect his balls. I respect his willingness to fight for what is right. Conor knows what he's doing. Like I said, I believe he'll be back. Conor has made a lot of money, so I'm sure he's in a position right now where he doesn't need to jump up and fight at the next event. I'm sure he can afford to take a long time off, so yeah, he'll be back." - x Jon Bones Jones

I am just trying to do my job and fight here.
I am paid to fight. I am not yet paid to promote.
I have become lost in the game of promotion and forgot about the art of fighting.
There comes a time when you need to stop handing out flyers and get back to the damn shop.
50 world tours, 200 press conferences, 1 million interviews, 2 million photo shoots, and at the end of it all I'm left looking down the barrel of a lens, staring defeat in the face, thinking of nothing but my incorrect fight preparation. And the many distractions that led to this.
Nothing else was going through my mind.
It is time to go back and live the life that got me this life.
Sitting in a car on the way to some dump in Conneticut or somewhere, to speak to Tim and Suzie on the nobody gives a penetrate morning show did not get me this life.
Talking to some lady that deep down doesn't give a penetrate about what I'm doing, but just wants some sound bites so she can maybe get her little tight ass a nice raise, and I'm cool with that too, I've been giving you all raises. But I need to focus on me now.
I'm coming for my revenge here.
I flew an entire team to Portugal and to Iceland to make my adjustments in preparation and fix my errors I made with the weight and the cardio prep.
With the right adjustments and the right focus, I will finish what I started in that last fight.
I will not do this if I am back on the road handing out flyers again.
I will always play the game and play it better than anybody, but just for this one, where I am coming off a loss, I asked for some leeway where I can just train and focus. I did not shut down all media requests. I simply wanted a slight adjustment.
    But it was denied.
There had been 10 million dollars allocated for the promotion of this event is what they told me.
So as a gesture of good will, I went and not only saved that 10 million dollars in promotion money, I then went and tripled it for them.
    And all with one tweet.
Keep that 10 mill to promote the other bums that need it. My shows are good.
    I must isolate myself now.
I am facing a taller, longer and heavier man. I need to prepare correctly this time.
I can not dance for you this time.
It is time for the other monkeys to dance. I've danced us all the way here.
Nate's little mush head looks good up on that stage these days. Stuff him in front of the camera for it.
He came in with no shit to do that last one. I'd already done press conferences, interviews and shot the ads before RDA pulled out.
Maybe I'll hit Cabo this time and skull some shots pre-fight with no obligation.
I'm doing what I need for me now.
It is time to be selfish with my training again. It is the only way.
I feel the $400million I have generated for the company in my last three events, all inside 8 months, is enough to get me this slight leeway.
I am still ready to go for UFC 200.
I will offer, like I already did, to fly to New York for the big press conference that was scheduled, and then I will go back into training. With no distractions.
If this is not enough or they feel I have not deserved to sit this promotion run out this one time, well then I don't know what to say.
    For the record also -
For USADA and for the UFC and my contract stipulations -
    I AM NOT RETIRED.

I see. Now we understand. McGregor wants to be paid to fight and not paid to promote. He is tired of promoting. At first I thought the death of an MMA fighter or WWE money was the reason of his retirement. He just wanted to retire from promoting and not fighting.

He'll have it in his next contract about being payed show money to go to these media things, that's all this is about, smart man, changing the game, ufc is Ina lose lose situation now, weather they give into his demands or not, they look petty and foolish either way.

I thought McGregor finally understood he won't beat Nate and was looking for a way out of the fight myself..

If it is because he doesn't want to do promos anymore then he should be willing to take a pay cut for each fight.. Seems fair as Zuffa won't make as much money with each McGregor fight now if he is not showing up for press conferences...

After Nate beats his ass again his stock will really start to fall..

He can train til he's blue in the face, remember Nate took that last fight on short notice.. Nate with a full training camp smashes McIrish again..

No reason at all to think this fight will go any differently than the last. McG will land and bust up nate, nate will be bigger and overall the much better fighter. Oh, and in shape this time.

It's a bad match-up for mcG just like it was the first time. Nate has the length and technique (as does mcG) so standing won't be a walk in the park and forget going to the ground. Only thing mcG has is the power and nate has one of the best chins in the history of mma.

I have literally no idea how you could bet mcG by sub. You're betting that nate gets rocked so bad that he forgets bjj and taps to a rnc. That line might have value at 500/1.

I won 10x that amount on his previous fight, 20x that in the fight before, and the fight before, and the fight before, and every fight since he's been in the ufc...the diaz fight was by far the smallest wager I've. Ever placed on him, and gave many reasons why he could lose, I bet diaz after the first round, gassing wasn't one of the reasons I expected, but he did gas and the lesser skilled fighter took advantage of it and made me money.

Exactly right, no one knocks diaz out cold, after seeing him take 9 of Connors left hands, atleast 4 of them clean. McGregor takes away the legs and mobility of diaz, allowing him to land more cleanly, more often the accumulation of shots will drop diaz and allow mcgregor the benifit of either subbing him out or getting the ref to pull him off by undefended gnp, either late 3rd or early 4th The sub line in around plus 3000,and with a equal amount wagered on the ko,offcourse and far amount more on mcgregor straight....fight will go exactly as it should have in the first matchup if mcgregor had made the correct preparations and gamplan, and didn't underestimate his op, and didn't fight like he never had before, like lombard...
