I like the RL here, as I think the Mets have a couple advantages coming in. 1) DeGrom is the better pitcher, Cueto can be good but also can be aweful as well. With Degrom the Mets are going to almost always get a quality start, even if his stuff is not at top notch. 2) I do like the fact that every Met, excluding Conforto, has seen Cueto numerous times as he has pitched for years in the NL. On the other hand, only one player from the Royals, a guy that never plays, has faced DeGrom. This gives DeGrom an edge early and the fact that DeGrom got to see Harvey attack this lineup in game 1 can only help him in his attempt at shutting down the Royals in game 2.
While Cueto has had success vs the middle of Mets order for his lifetime he still has a losing record against the Mets with an ERA over 4. All but 1 Mets win in the post season have come by 2+ runs and obviously I believe Mets even the series.
While I am not going Benny style on this play, I do like the Mets.
If anything, let's hope the rest of the series is as compelling as game 1 was.
Good luck, it's about pregame 30.
