Spain -1 @ 1.60 ( 5 units ) Spain -1.5 @ 2.08 ( 2 units )
Plenty of posters have claimed Japan dominated Spain in their 4 - 0 win. To the victor go the spoils , and that game is now meaningless. Winning the group gave Japan a match against Norway , while 2nd place Spain will play lower ranked Switzerland,
The first 15 - 20 minutes of that game , Spain missed several easy scoring opportunities. Japan scored on a counter attack from an errand pass and a 2nd on a deflection......
Bottom line , the score was no way indicative of how the game played out. I'm guessing Spain will be chomping at the bit to showcase their worth against Switzerland

Franz:
By the way, I meant no disrespect. If someone told me that Sweden was value in this game, I'd have to respect that opinion. They look solid.
Franz, you know this personnel better than anyone on the site. Most of us couldn't name more than a few of these players.
It's like I always say. These are all opinions. That's why they play the games.

Didn't watch any of that game but is this the men's Spain side who just keep the ball but can't score?
Switzerland doesn't seem to able to score either though.
Good luck on the play.

Laker, I had a similar thought:
The Spanish male players tend to be on the smaller side:
*Casillas was one of the shorter Goalies.
*Most of their good attacking players were diminutive.
Yes, their ball possession was amazing. Great skill, but they didn't always have the target-man to finish in the box.

Cant score ? Prior to the Japan game ( they had already qualified ), their scores were 5 - 0 2 - 0 9 - 0..... They have the #1 and #2 ranked female players in the world.

Chucky , I always value your opinion on soccer and no offense taken in any way. The same goes for Laker. Perhaps Spain aren't as good as i think they are. And maybe the US dont have a " next gear " and this is as good as it gets. As you say , they play the games for a reason. So far this tournament has been anything but predictable.

Well I'm guessing as the competition stiffens up it gets harder to score and the Spain men comparison for me I guess has a similar trajectory. I remember they beat costa Rica 7-0?
They also lost to Japan if I recall correctly. Switzerland offers little up front so they will soak it up.

England vs Nigeria :
England - 1.5 @ 1.98 ( 2 units ) L. James to score anytime @ 3.00 ( 1 unit )
Amazing run for #40 ranked Nigeria. England ( #4 ) are finding their groove and playing every bit The European Champions that they are. The pace of Nigeria on the counter attack will be nullified by the efficiency of England's midfield. The possession , and flow of the game , will be dictated by England. James to score anytime seems a bit generous @ 3/1. MVP to date imo

Australia vs Denmark : 6:30pm est
Over 2 @ 1.83 ( 3 units )
I am not banking on Samantha Kerr making a surprise start for Australia. Her presence would only be an added bonus. The Aussies looked unbeatable against Canada , and took the game to them from the onset. With an electrified crowd of 42,500 in Sydney , this team will come out of the gates and attack Denmark. I also think Denmark are capable of playing with the best of them when push comes to shove. Down 1 - 0 against England at the half , they turned up the heat and looked dangerous the entire 2nd half. Its 13c and cloudy at game time. Think it rains goals tomorrow

They keep score for a reason. No " Airbetting " or " Dart throwing " , the thread and record remains throughout the tournament.

Good Luck, franz. Spain looked lively vs Switz.
I mentioned that I don't put much stock in the SPA/JAP result. Both were going thru, it really didn't hurt Espana.

The #1 player in the World Alexia Putellas , was injured ahead of the WC. She was used sparingly to date and only saw the last 14 minutes against Switzerland. Its a similar issue with Samantha Kerr of Australia , both coaches have been patient with their stars to date. I say watch out for both from here on in. They are impact players who can change a tight game in a blink of an eye.
Netherlands / Spain should be a dandy. Goals Goals Goals
Enjoy the games

Just looking to the knockout games that each won to get here. The Duch won 2 - 0 vs # 54 ranked Sth Africa, while Spain spanked # 20 Switzerland 5 - 1. South Africa had 14 shots at goal and could not beat the game MVP , keeper Domselaar. Spain once again rested star player Putellas and ran all over Switzerland with 74% possession and a 25 - 2 shot differential. Putellas , the #1 player in the world has been inserted sparingly in the previous games , i think its time to release the hounds
