Recession Alarms Ring Across Markets to Defy JPMorgan Model
From bonds to commodities to money supply, there’s a slew of alarm bells going off that suggest a hard economic landing lies ahead - Bloomberg
Energy consumption will drop by 99% after the upgrade. That will be huge for ethereum. That's one of the major concerns of all the coins is energy consumption.

Nobody can define it right now. Still alot of guessing on what crypto could become, mainly ETH and BTC.
Is it a store of wealth? Too fukking volatile for that now.
Digital Gold? Too fukking volatile right now.
Inflation hedge? Currently it tracks the Nasdaq100 closely, so throw that out the window.
Form of payment? Hows that going to work... if your account can go up 10 percent or down every week.

From today's CryptoCompare newsletter:
"The Ethereum Merge is currently the leading narrative in the cryptocurrency market, with related assets rallying heavily after developers announced that the final testnet merge in Goerli is scheduled to take place over the coming week.
Ethereum miners, as described above in this newsletter, have campaigned to maintain a PoW version of the network called ETHPOW, which suggests an airdrop of ETHPOW tokens is possible.
In the short term, this looming airdrop may lead to positive price action for Ethereum and other tokens in its ecosystem as users try to gain as much of the airdrop as possible.
Other well-known hard forks, such as Ethereum Classic, or Bitcoin Cash maintain active communities, but they have been heavily overshadowed by their forked counterparts in Ethereum and Bitcoin."

There is a whole hell of a lot more scam than utility in the crypto world, that’s about the only thing I am certain about.

It's the other way around. Scams just make more noise.

There could be a fork and we'll get an airdrop. Quick money grab.

This goes here, I think - Ethereum related. From the Crypto Compare newsletter:
U.S. Treasury Blacklists Crypto Mixing Service Tornado Cash
"The U.S. Treasury Department has banned all Americans from using decentralized cryptocurrency mixing service Tornado Cash by sanctioning addresses associated with it, saying that it “launders the proceeds of cybercrimes.”
A watchdog agency tasked with preventing sanctions violations, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), has added Tornado Cash to its Specially Designated Nationals list, a running tally of blacklisted entities and cryptocurrency addresses, effectively banning Americans from interacting with addresses associated with the protocol.
The Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, Brian Nelson, was quoted saying:
“Despite public assurances otherwise, Tornado Cash has repeatedly failed to impose effective controls designed to stop it from laundering funds for malicious cyber actors on a regular basis and without basic measures to address its risks.”
Crypto mixing services are used to obscure trails of funds by blending tokens in a pool comprised of the assets of various entities. While there are legitimate uses for these services, including protecting financial privacy, the government said it fosters illicit activity.
Tornado Cash was used in some high-profile cases this year, including the $615 million hack of the network used by Axie Infinity, Ronin, and a $100 million attack on U.S. startup Harmony. Both attacks were linked to North Korean state-backed hackers, the Lazarus Group."
Tornado Cash is an Ethereum mixer. Not sure they can stop people from using it. Next thing ya know, they'll ban privacy coins and then tell you how Fed Coin is going to be so much better.

She is right about US authorities being heavy handed.
But crypto is not going to thrive whilst proponents do not accept that facilitating 450mill in money laundering in the name of privacy is not going to fly in the real world.
Sophisticated investors will care more about system reliability and legality than privacy like it or not.

Theft shouldn't be tolerated but I'm not sure you remove privacy to achieve it. Seems to me, some of these crypto companies need to get better at cyber-security. Don't get hacked.
In the article above, they said one hack was done by "North Korean state-backed hackers, the Lazarus Group". How do we know this to be true? How can one trust what comes out of the "authorities" mouths these days? Who's to say it wasn't our own US Treasury dept and a group of so-called "white hat" hackers under their employ who did the dirty deed? Or Blackrock - they could afford to have the best hackers in the world on the payroll.
Some of what is at play here is the whittling away of the freedoms that crypto brings. Government intrusion is never the answer.

Heidi and partner Toby are ex-pats living in Portugal. I'd say they qualify as OG's in the crypto space. Both renounced their US citizenship and live off their crypto investments.
Toby is an interesting guy. He's a world class big-wave surfer and living in Portugal because of the big waves there.
Heidi has been running the Crypto Tips channel for the longest time with Toby participating more and more lately...

Yes, you could drop it now or DCA into it. Especially as we get to the halving early next year. Raiders and others will agree
