Or are we just by then hoping that everyone or most gets it to the point where the variants become weaker to the point that it gets treated no differently to the common cold and our bodies are equipped to handle it like many others have who have been asymptomatic or had very mild symptoms?
The government's biggest issue in Australia was going all in on vaccines and claiming it would be the be all and end all. They still crow about that and their lockdowns. A lot of good that does now. It provided a few months of peace but they are now no better then anyone else in the world at managing it with deaths and cases and hospital/ICU cases going up despite having a 90-95% double dosed population, and well on their way with the third.
Understandably they're the laughing stock nowComment -

#76The Australian response it the virus has been absurd. Australian police were going door to door confronting people about their social media posts and asking if they went to covid protests. Djokovic has already had covid, he has better immunity against th virus than many vaccinated Australians.Comment -

#78Man people think the pandemic will end or be very controlled by the end of the year or early next year so does that mean we are basically going to close off most of Africa and other developing countries that no one has an interest in vaccinating while others have received 6 booster shots?

#79. Cry me a river you bloody scab. My family and I have been in some form of lockdown and now isolation for 22+ months. We do NOT give a shit about an arrogant idiot who can’t read the room and realise that even his little COVID party was in bad taste.
The majority of us are hoping he gets kicked the f out of here before he can breathe Aussie air. He’s always been an arrogant, whining prick but this takes the cake with him. But yes I’ll tell my friend who lost her husband last week who is interstate that demonsicko on the internet said she should cry a river because she’s not allowed into Perth for her own husband’s funeral nor are they allowed to fly him to Melbourne.
Get fukked mate. This is a little sport. The more mature of us are talking about the lives of people.Comment -

Really? You literally just deported a premire athlete, who is healthy with no Covid, for a V I S A issue, knowing full well he doesn't have any intention or interest in staying in your shithole 1 day beyond his victory & check clears the bank.
Best results lol
85% vaccine rate. HIGHEST breakthru rate in the developed world.

Your politics and policies have failed. Your Country has raken on an insurmountable amount of debt and NOTHING will change because people will not admit they were wrong or that they over reacted.
If you really believe the world will come off its axis because Joker plays a tennis tourney or has the wrong address on his V I S A then there is no help for you, you really are just that fukking stupid.
This business in Australia just now has zero credibility, by un- credible politicians supported by straight up retarded people.
Best results in the world lol GTFOH
How's life in your bubble last 3 years? Meanwhile, in Florida, life goes on and even the most liberal political figures are vacationing here, no masks, no mandates, no vaxx card.
You know why??? Because none of it mattered- you got taken for the biggest wealth transfer in history...worldwide over $12 TRILLION went from the future generations into the pockets of less than 250,000 people.
...and you shut the world down to do it!Comment -

You have no issue w this then YOU and you politics are the problem.
Next, we shall deport all healthy men based on their skin color?
How about we collect your mail in ballots and deport based on who you voted for?
He poses ZERO risk to society and is innocent of any illegal or inhumane act, and as a 7 time champion is a Aussie legend, let alone a world treasure.
But you keep defending your philosophy...here's hoping there's something left worth living for in the end.Comment -

#91Correct. I have no issue with Djoko being deported if he didn't follow the rules, same as any other person.
The people of Melbourne have had to follow them. Why shouldn't he respect that?
if I had a vote I would have changed those rules to make it easier for him, but that did not happen and in the end he chose the confrontational hard way.
Tough luck it didn't work out for him..Comment -

Who did the lockdowns & restrictions and mandates workout for?
Anyone under 70 or 300 pounds? Anyone with less than a $750,000 IRA?
Honestly I lost so much respect for the individualism of Australia the last 30 months. I don't recognize the people that made that Country great in the 70s and 80s.
To back these policies is irresponsible citizenship. This us the same shitty tactics the National Socialists used to strip rights from our non shellfish earing brothers.
They weren't sick, they didn't pose a threat, they traveled freely, earned, paid taxes....but they didn't have papers.
Spin it all you'd like, it's the same political playbook. The GB Packers power sweep looks the same today as it did in 67, don't matter if it's Horning for GB or Hendry for Tenn running it. It's the same play.Comment -

#102The Australian Government has now released two separate letters they sent to Tennis Australia back in November warning them that previously having Covid (Novak's reasoning for trying to get into the country) is not a valid excuse to enter Australia. The whole debate at that point was whether Tennis Australia would allow unvaxxed players to enter tourneys. That's the only "exemption" he ever got... Tennis Australia telling him he could play despite being unvaccinated and this was after they at least twice checked to see if having Covid within the past six months was ok with the government and each time they were told no. And obviously they have no authority who enters the country.
I don't really like Djokovic but even if this was Federer I'd have the same feelings. You travel the world with a large entourage who handle things for you. You would know that you have to obey the rules of the country you're entering. It'd be like if an idiot thought the NBA decides who gets past Customs at the border. It's laughable.
As for Pavy's comment about the Aus Open losing money without him, if anything it was the opposite. There were articles all over today about how shop and hospitality owners were worried if he was allowed to play because so many have said they'll boycott. The temperature here during the Aus Open is usually unbearable as it is and people are avoiding public transport as much as they can. This would be the perfect excuse for them to stay home and save money.
And really, do we think that Serbian President would let Ash Barty in if she tried to dodge the rules? Come on.Comment -
