#73I tell you who I see NOT rising this year: Clemson and Alabama. Each team has an O/U of 11'. I plan to bet both unders very heavy. They've both lost a ton of talent.
I just don't see any way they BOTH go undefeated in the regular season (despite how dominant each team has been the past 6 years, they've only BOTH gone undefeated in the same regular season ONCE). Just one loss between those 2 teams and all you lose is the juice, which I grant you is a little heavier than -110.
Get each team to lose and you've made some big money. If I bet a dime on each, the way I see it, worst case scenario is I lose the juice (around $300), but there is a real chance I win $2,000.
Gun to head, I'd put more money on Bama losing a game than Clemson. That Clemson schedule is a fukking joke. After Georgia, the 2 best teams they play are Boston College and NC State. Good grief.
The only problem with these bets are do you really think they will play all 12 games? I think both teams will get 1 or 2 games cancelled due to covid.Comment -

#74Heritage have both Bama and Clemson over/under at 11.5. The under is like -140 for each. It's worth a shot as both teams have to be perfect each week for the entire season with new QBs. Clemson's toughest challenge will be opening week against Georgia. They win that game, they have a great shot at going undefeated IMO. Bama has the much tougher road. They go through a murderers row of games in the SEC west, especially against Arkansas (trap game), Ole Miss, TAM, LSU and Auburn plus they play Florida.

#75Yes, the possibility of no action is a very real one if a game is missed. And I know Clemson has an easy schedule (after UGA) but they could easily slip up against a weaker team. I remember they lost straight up to Syracuse a couple years ago. I think they were a 28 point favorite or something like that....Comment -

#76If either school loses at least one game that goes the requisite 55 mins to be considered a full game in the record books then imo the sportsbook should pay out on under 11.5 reg season because the best that could happen is 11-1 and your under bet is a winner right after the 1st loss.
You would think the books would grade it as a winner but the bet clearly says that all games must be played. I wouldn't hold my breath.Comment -

#77could certainly happen but i would not go crazy betting on it. JT vs DJ but the other 42 players on O and D plus the ST's will have a big say in it.Comment -

TEXAS sched, and my opinion on W, L or Coinflip, but all that matters is final record, no matter how they weave and curve in and out to it.
serious injuries to them and/or the opponents, notwithstanding:
v UL = Win
@ Arkie = coinflip (Hogs better than you think)
v Rice = Win
v TTU = Win (tricky Red raider team but Win)
@ TCU = Loss (horny frogs go to 8-3 v texas in last 11)
v OU = Loss (goodnight Irene if OU QB spencer is healthy)
v Okie State = coinflip (young Cowboy O grows up by week 7-8)
@ Baylor = Loss (aranda will have home team ready)
v KU = Win
@ WVU = Loss (late Nov, long trip to morgantown, look out)
@ ISU = Loss (if ISU healthy they SMASH texas by DD)
v KSU = coinflip (wildcats not mildcats under this coach. trust me)
4 wins, 5 losses, and 3 coinflips
at 2-1 in the coinflips they go 6-6
bad luck on the flips they are 5-7
good luck on those 7-5
swing of 2 games from 5-7 to 7-5
i will go 7-5 because the new QB looks pretty decent and SARK can coach
8-4 or 9-3 ??
SARK should Win coach of the year in the BIG 12 if 9-3 or better, if the coaches and writers know a lick about the game
MY FINAL PICK: 7-5Comment -

#83Maybe it will be closer than 52-3, maybe that's what you're trying to say??? Maybe 45-17? But to say that's a tough game for a legit top 5 team is wayyy beyond the pail.
I remember the last time Ark beat bama in the early 2000's. Bama missed 3 short FG's and a PAT and lost in OT.
As far as Texas;
Too many unknowns. New coaches, new QB. TX gifted TCU a win LY so that will be close. Baylor is tough in Waco so that's a toss. The UL game is a toss too and OU is a loss. They beat WV and OSU like they do every year.
Word out of Austin is the QB looks great and the defense, which was very good LY, is even better. My best guess is they will lose 3 or 4 games.Comment -

MACker said Bama v Arkie is a trap game. Not me LOL
I like Arkie to battle TX pretty good in week 2 and i am calling that a toss up game.
I am NOT calling Bama v Arkie a trap game LOLComment -

My point was that Bama has to play a bunch of physical, grind it out teams back to back to back. The SEC is a grind and you have very little time to heal up after a bruising game a few days ago. The ACC is just not on par with the SEC West and it’s not really close.Comment -

#86Bacon… One thing I know is college football players. I also know possible bad spots and that is a bad spot for Bama, no matter what people think. Saban is the best in preparing his teams for those spots but even he can’t coach past human nature. I’m telling you months in advance that Bama will not cover the spread. Arkansas will surprise a lot of people. If the QB can be more productive, watch out. They have good RBs, a stud WR. But they will stand out on defense. They probably have the 2 best LBs in the SEC, their DLine is beastly as well. They’ll be much better than last year.

My apologies. I'm getting my Hogs mixed up.
Ark will be about the same. A decent team. They bring back the entire defense but is that great news when that group gave up 50, 63, 27 and 52 to close out '20?Comment -

#88If the better talent always won, we wouldn’t have to play the games. Of course Bama is the better team but that game is no gimme. In a perfect storm that could be an L. Most importantly, they then have to play Auburn the very next week. They lose that game most people will be crediting Auburn but in reality Arkansas would be the reason they lost. Look at teams that run the option. If you are not use to defending it, it can give you fits. Most smart teams schedule option teams after a bye to have an extra week to prepare. But teams also struggle the week after playing option teams.Comment -

#92Arky QB will be much better this year. He sucked on 3rd downs. They also poached several top players on the line from other SEC teams and transfer portal. Rabid fan base, tough place to play for opposing teams. Put them anywhere but the SECw and they would be competing for a conference title I think.Comment -

#93I like year 3 under a solid new coach the best out of the first 3 years but year 2 definitely tends to yield pretty good improvement as the players understand the new schemes better and the coaches know the players better and where and how to put guys in the best positions to exploit their skills to make plays.Comment -

#94I think this article was back in 2008 but really showed the huge jump several coaches made in their 2nd year. I’ve always thought if a coach couldn’t turn it around in year 2, they weren’t going to do much. I think 1 or 2 coaches won titles in year 3 though.

That's a good number of coaches that made significant jumps in wins from their first to second years as head coach. One thing that tells me is that the previous coach didn't leave the program in as bad as shape as what it seemed at the time.Comment -
