#2Hercy Miller, the son of rapper and former NBA player Master P, has signed a $2 million deal to become a brand ambassador for Web Apps America, a tech company specializing in web, mobile and software solutions. Miller's endorsement deal ties into the company's commitment to supporting HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges & Universities) in the United States.Comment -

#3I think they are breaking the ice on the NIL market and trying to set the bar for endorsements. This is a shot at the NCAA.Comment -

#4I don't see anything wrong with this. The school is not paying him money. The sponsor does. Maybe this guy will stay in school for 4 years and graduate instead of going to the NBA after 1 year.Comment -

#5It is the new ballgame. It is going to get wild. You are going to start to see transfers to schools just for the endorsements. The NCAA is going to lose all control of player movement.Comment -

#7It will definitely keep players in school. A college basketball player is worth $1,000,000 as a starter and the NBA minimum is less than that. So NCAA players are actually more valuable than NBA bench players.Comment -

#16That sounds like NCAA coaches. Actually, going to be a lot of money spread around here. These guys have a lot of present value and huge future value. If you are a sponsor, you want to get in early and you will spread it around.Comment -

#19That ship sailed with the transfer portal. There will be less movement now because a player can make money sitting on the bench. Everyone is not trying to go pro, some just want spending money.Comment -

#23Yes, you can get sponsorship. So now you will have players making $100,000. Of course at some point, people are going to say. What sense does it make not to pay a player when he is already making $250,000?
The coach and the AD and school president will say: Because we will not make as much!!!! Who is going to pay us???
And people will say, Oh yeah.
And then later, they will say: Why again are we losing players that make $250,000???Comment -

#25Yes, a guy is going to be a surprise player at Kansas as a 3-star and then he will transfer to LSU to play for the national championship and make twice as much money. And an LSU guy will transfer to Kansas to try to get playing time to try to get an endorsement and get seen for NFL.Comment -

#26We will see how it goes. The transfer portal was 10X what it used to be before the NIL. I just think the NIL stabilizes the system since every player can get paid no matter which school they attend or whether they are starters or bench players. Only time will tell. Some players will get paid more in NIL money as students and never get paid as a professional.Comment -
