Its too cold to riot and loot. When times are hard nothing like rioters and looters to compound the problem. Now we all know how deal with them. Don’t burn down this city. Freeze it.

                    So
                    1) there's no competition
                    2) there's no legal recourse for anyone
                    3) there's no regulation
                    4) there's not any consumer protections that prevent them from raping the captive market they made for themselves

it's so very American that you don't know whether to laugh or cry, this is a suicidal devotion to deregulation of public utilities.
ERCOT is also forbidden from buying power from outside the State. Texas is fukked.

Maybe this douchebag ex mayor should have thought before he hit send.

In a follow-up Facebook post hours later, Boyd attempted to clarify that his previous statement:

"I ask that you each understand I never meant to speak for the city of Colorado City or Mitchell county! I was speaking as a citizen as I am NOT THE MAYOR anymore. I apologize for the wording and ask that you please not harass myself or my family anymore!"

He added that his wife had reportedly been laid off from her job as a result of the incident, and that he'd tendered his resignation. Boyd also indicated that he 'had not signed up to run for mayor again' by the election deadline, Feb. 12.

This is Texas bitch! Stuff is already back to normal. Wifey is making Roman Noodles with Graham Crackers...again, as we speak.

Where are my other H-Town SBR peeps located? I'll send you my cell phone number if any of my SBR broes need some help here. Send me a pm. I live in Cypress and I'll be traveling to Spring Branch later today to bring my parents some supplies.

My house lost electricity for only 38 hours. No plumbing or water issues. Super lucky and grateful. Unfortunately, there are a ton of people here suffering and were not as fortunate. 2 500 year floods, Worst hurricane in over 100 years, Bill O' Brian trading Hop for David Johnson, Covid and now the great Alaskan snowstorms all in the last 6 years and this city continues to fight. If you think humanity has no hope... come to Houston, Texas. This place will change your mind.

Huh? It took them a week to get power after 3 inches of snow. It’s been freezing and 2 feet of snow in pa for weeks and my lights didn’t even flicker. Roads clear as can be. Blue states always better prepared.

The auto donks of the world fail at everything. Some icey rain and the entire state shuts down. People dying in homes from frostbite. Cruz and Abbott should both resign.

Does this act of God/Rush increase the chances of TEXIT or decrease it?

I think this increases the chances of Texas seceding from the union

                                                everything is bigger in Texas

Feb electric bills are going to be very very very very big.

but paying 5,000 for a month of electric is small price to pay for the sweet zing of freedom and federal regulation free lectricty!

natural gas generator kicked in no problem. Back up diesel and propane if needed. Very minimal costs. The only problem I had this go round was no water to flush toilets. I have plenty of drinking water and can generate water with dehumidifier but didn’t want to waste it on flushing toilets, so I used my pool water. Pain in the ass to grab a bucket of water in freezing cold to take a shit. I was almost about to run a sump pump from the pool to the bathroom but I already had too many wires all over the place. I could comfortably live off the grid for 90 to 120 days. Probably could go longer if necessary.
