with a bad offensive line the quarterback needs to fade right or left with all his blockers, it give the qb an extra half second. the one time they tried it the entire line faded one direction and boyle faded the OTHER! direction only to not surprisingly get clocked when he turned around, by the edge guy
the other thing you can do is have the receivers run a slant to the inside and attack the space where the rushers are coming from, instead he has his receivers fade OUT
i mean this is basic football that this guy has no idea about. i suppose when aaron rodgers was carrying him, it was all about rodgers' talent and doing what it took in-game. or maybe these guys have some kind of homosexual relationship going onComment -

#178or as i said before the game, run the ball 70% of the time, play action the other 30%.
none of it matters when you have an idiot running the offenseComment -

#180i thought saleh was safe but after this performance it might be time to clean house
i can blame hackett all i want, but the coach decides who runs the offense, the coach is responsible for the team's performance, for choosing the offensive coordinator and letting Hackett make the play callsComment -

#184Time to move on from Tua
Let's go after JJ McCarthy.
Also, I am not sold on this coach. You have 2 of the fastest WR's in the NFL in Tyreek and Waddle and they don't get the ball like they should. Their talents are being wasted.
Since KC traded Tyreek, they haven't lost a superbowl.Comment -

#187I don't know man. My best friend is a die hard Dolphins fan so I see a lot of their games. I know that your defensive backfield has been complete shit for years. Might want to upgrade that and then you won't have to score 50 points a game to win. This league is all pass now. You can't have a weak back end.
Tua is never going to stay healthy, so ya, I would assume Dolphins need to invest in some sort of upgrade at backup because Huntley isn't going to cut it. Tua gets it to the playmakers when he is in there but, again, you can't have a QB miss half the season every year.Comment -

Lots of teams will be going after a QB. Jets, Raiders will be desperate. Tua doesn't have the arm strength and ya he is always injured. None of that is gonna change. Time to move on.Comment -

#189When I would walk into the pub on Sundays or Monday night to watch the game with the guys, they would say "hey, Miami". I don't think the waitresses ever knew my real name. I got up at 4am to watch them lose today. I must be nuts.

#190Well I am a Jet fan and I think they should give Travis the keys. The kid is a winner. I don't know what he will be in the NFL but he should get a chance. He was great at FSU. He cares about the team, not himself. He is a leader. I will be angry if they piss away another draft pick on a QB when they have other issues. If he doesn't work out then what do they lose? The team blows ass anyways. They need to sure up the defense and get that unit to top notch. That is when Jets are good.

#191Where are the Fins drafting?
Middle of the first round?
The Boise back Jeanty should be Miami's top priority.
Jeanty is clearly the elite RB coming out.
Jeanty is the scouts #1
Johnson out of Iowa is #2, Hampton from UNC is #2a
When I think of most of the great RB's making the transition from D1 to the NFL, I think of Big Ten, and Big 12.
(And USC and Texas as well)
Johnny Rodgers out of Nebraska is a top ten all-time great NCAA back.
Red Grange, Illinois.
Archie Griffin, Ohio State.
Wisconsin had a six-year run of turning out solid backs...
It's a preference thing, usually the great linebackers come from here in the Northeast, the Bergen County NJ region has produced great beefy linebackers, rural Pa. too.
Something about the rust belt and corn belt regions that keep cranking out running backs.
I like North Carolina, the Heels and Wake Forest are pretty much the only things I like out of the ACC.
Those two ACC teams usually have stacked baseball teams, Clemson almost always has a nationally ranked baseball team as well, I just dislike like Clemson, doesn't mean I don't have the utmost respect for them, I do, I can respect the hell out of certain programs and not like them in the same sentence.
Personally, I think both Virgina schools in the ACC are boring AF.
When I think of great D1 baseball teams I think ACC, golf programs too.
ACC hoops are legendary, hey all major conferences can't play football well, UConn's hoops are legendary, but our school was always pointed at and laughed at when Connecticut and football were mentioned in the same breath.
It took UConn almost two decades to win a mid-sized bowl game last month.
Randy Edsall screwed UConn football so bad in the four years he was here it was on life support for twenty years.
Jim Mora in four years wiped that all out and made at least relevant again.
Oh, not for nothing the Dolphins GM Grier seriously wants to step down from that role and work for Mr. Ross as an independent advisor.
Ross loves Grier the whole organization does, from the front office top executives down to the towel boys.
Ross isn't thrilled about losing Grier as his GM, for starters he's just that damn good at what he does, and Ross is what now? Like 85 years old, Grier does most of Ross's thinking these days.
Stay tuned, that story has been gaining momentum all weekend.Comment -

#1921) They're keeping McDaniel. I'm personally not a fan. But I can't think of a better option, except Ben Johnson from DET (who EVERYONE will want).
2) I really think the problem with the Dolphins has long been their problem playing in cold weather. It's so much different than playing in ideal weather.
3) The championship Dolphin teams were physical. Tough RBs and a great Off Line.
*If I could go back and change on result in NFL history, it would be the 1985 AFC Championship. Dolphins turn it over six times. Patriots win in an upset. They were no match for the Bears. Dolphins may actually have had the antidote for the Bear defense with their package of quick receivers.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

#193Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill indicates he's done playing in Miami: 'I'm out'
Are Tyreek Hill's days in Miami numbered?
The Dolphins wide receiver indicated after Sunday’s loss to the New York Jets that he'd be open to move to a new team next season.
""This is my first time I haven't been in the playoffs," Hill told reporters. "I just gotta do what's best for me and my family. If that's here or wherever the case may be, I'm finna open that door for myself. I'm opening the door. I'm out, bro.
"It was great playing here, but at the end of the day, bro, I got to do what's best for my career. I'm too much of a competitor to be just out there."
A wrist injury bothered Hill all season, even though he played all 17 games, coming up 41 yards shy of his fifth straight 1,000-yard receiving season.

Who knows what's in his head but he's been almost a non factor all season long. He had one good game and that was the day when he was arrested heading to the stadium in Miami. Maybe he had another good game but nothing like WR's who get paid the $ he gets.Comment -

#199well, when Hill signed with Miami on a 3-year deal after KC trade, he said that would be his last contract. He then signed an extension this offseason I believe. He has a ton of kids with several baby mamas. He needs all the $ he can get.

It's too bad, b/c I think they really had a championship team two years ago. Remember when they buried the Broncos with 70 pts? I really think the Dolphins with a healthy Tua/Achane/Hill could have beaten anyone in temps > 50*.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

#203"WHAT IF?" WEDNESDAY: What if the Miami Dolphins had chosen Drew Brees over Daunte Culpepper in the 2006 offseason?
In 2023, Tua Tagovailoa became the first Miami Dolphins quarterback since Dan Marino to make the Pro Bowl. In the nearly three decades between Marino and Tagovailoa, however, many faces stood behind center for Miami. Many have wondered whether that would have been the case if the Dolphins went a different direction prior to the start of the 2006 season.
The Dolphins finished on a 6-game winning streak in 2005 under first-year head coach Nick Saban. Entering 2006, optimism was high for better things. At 34 years old, quarterback Gus Frerotte had performed admirably for Miami in 2005, but with higher expectations, the Dolphins had a chance to make a splash. The top choices appeared to be former San Diego Chargers quarterback Drew Brees and Minnesota Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper, a 3-time Pro Bowler coming off a season-ending injury.
Brees, a free agent, failed a physical while visiting Miami. That prompted the Dolphins to make the trade for Culpepper. With big expectations, Culpepper played just four games for the Dolphins before going on to be a journeyman. Culpepper played for four teams over his final five seasons and never made more than six starts in any of those seasons.
As for Brees, he would go on to have a Hall of Fame career with the New Orleans Saints. Brees retired following the 2020 season as the NFL's all-time leading passer. In 20 NFL seasons, including 15 with New Orleans, Brees made 13 Pro Bowls, was a 2-time AFC Offensive Player of the Year, and led the Saints to their only Super Bowl victory in 2009.
While Brees was a mainstay behind center in New Orleans, missing just 12 starts over 15 years, the Dolphins started 15 different quarterbacks during that span. Brees won 142 games for New Orleans while Miami won 107 games over that stretch -- an average of just over seven victories per season. Brees led New Orleans to seven division titles and nine playoff victories. Miami, from 2006 to 2020, won one division title and made just two postseason appearances, going 0-2.
For the duration of Brees' time in New Orleans, he was coached by an offensive guru in Sean Payton. There's no telling whether he would have had the same level of success in South Florida, but in an alternate universe, perhaps Brees would have shined for the Dolphins in 2006. In that case, does Saban still leave for Alabama? Just think about how that would have changed the college football landscape. Perhaps Brees becomes a mainstay at quarterback for the Dolphins and Miami becomes a perennial challenger to the New England Patriots in the AFC East. Instead, we're left only to wonder, "what if?"
