Been on graves for over 2 years. You get used to it. The only thing that sucks is when you are working everyone you know is sleeping. When you get off and are up, everyone else is working.

I work DuPont. Just finished my 7 off and doing 4 nights now. Staying on nights is so much better than swinging around.

Just finished working seventeen years of off shifts.
2 years- Midnight to 8am.
4 years- 7pm to 3am.
1 year- 3am to 11am {the worst}.
5 years-10pm-6am.
4 years- 9pm-5am. {the best of the lot}.
1 year- 9pm-4am.

Its not easy or for everyone.Two months out I still haven't achieved a normal circadian rhythm.

Those that know my joke I'm from a different time zone.

That's a solid shift, depending on what you do.

Construction, outdoor, for sure.

Working the markets, same thing, for sure, for us on the West Coast.

It's a good time slot and leaves a lot open work with.

I remember when banks were only open 9-5, no weekends.

Anyone working 9-5 was screwed.

I was more like 6 or 7 am to 3 to 6 or so pm. Of course, investment banking hours were kind of endless when we're working on deals.

But the market kept me there in the morning as I managed the brokers. So you can have so much freedom to iron out deals at the strip club over lunch or even on a Saturday night.

But you were always a slave to the markets, subject to the 6:30-1:00 mayhem, even when working the invesment bank side.

Then the chinese wall, a regulation with the SEC, sort of made an information barrier where I wasn't really allowed to talk to myself on some deals. Not even pillow talk.
