I guess mlb feels they need to nip two things in the bud as quick as possible.

1) they don't want an astro to get seriously hurt with a bean ball to the head and have second guessers saying the allowed it to happen by not recognizing a team in their leagues was being targeted.

2) they can't have benches clearing and breaking social distancing, especially as close to the marlins outbreak news. They have to show extreme caution from any lax Covid precautions in every aspect of their operations right now. One mis step and the season is canceled
