It's not new news that the SF Government is corrupted by the labor unions. On July 7th, the city is voting on a new healthy business ordinance that requires extremely strict cleaning protocols (however, all city government buildings and offices are exempt). For hotels, this ordinance would include cleaning every guest room every day even if unused (imagine the waste if your hotel is only 20% full), also cleaning every window and drapes through out the day. Labor Unions are behind this to require hotels to bring back more of the union members regardless if the hotel is making money. More union members working = more union dues to the union.
Most hotels in San Francisco are still closed and if this passes, most will not re-open until 2021 because they can't afford with low occupancies to maintain a large staff like that.
