On Bet365 it says if the tournament is cancelled for whatever reason after 36 holes then whoever is first place would he deemed the winner.

But the bet would have had to have been placed before this round started.

True, however if a bunch of the players got together and had dinner for example at the hotel. Suddenly 10 could be infected (not saying it happened).

He also tested negative yesterday so must have gotten it from someone else.
