• The NBA approved a competitive format to resume the 2019-20 season with 22 teams returning to play and a tentative start date of July 31. We will provide more information on the league's comprehensive season restart plan as soon as it becomes available.

I thought they said August 1 the playin round starts. I wish they would just wait now, nba can get away with playing in summer. Nhl in August is just odd

Nhl season will definitely resume however if during the time allotted to get back in shape(ie mini training camp) should the covid case begin to rise again they will not resume to finish the 2020 playoffs and will try to start the 2020/2021 season during the normal start from 2019

• 24-team postseason format
• The bottom eight qualifying teams in each conference will play a best-of-5 series to get into the playoffs
• The top four seeds will play in a round robin to determine seeding
• Unknown if the bracket will re-seed after each round

The bottom eight teams playing best-of-5 series will use NHL Playoff rules.
Round Robin with top four teams will use regular season rules, tiebreaker will be regular season point percentage (points/games played).

Total GUESS on my part here, but hub with finalist with better regular season point percentage may host entire finals.

Honestly I have done no handicapping at all since leagues stopped, will start after I come back from vacation July 17th.

I thought I saw they were reseeding, so if Montreal beats Pittsburgh, then they will play the 1 seed, as an example.

This is ridiculous including the playin tourney if you are within 4 games of 8th. They will be able to give them an easy "regular season" schedule as well because the west will play only 8 of the other 12 teams.

No worries about next season, NBA is already set, if there is Game 7 of NBA Finals it would be October 16th and next season starts on Christmas Day.

NHL should have similar timeframe once restart date is official.
