Kind of sad. Those St. Louis Battlehawks home games were epic. Better crowd than entire NFL.

The attention they were getting was 10x what anyone thought it would be. Guess that doesn’t equate to cash.

Corona was the only thing that could stop them from completing their season. Wish they could have gotten that first year under their belts, then reevaluate for the future; Possibly impress the NFL enough to become a "farm" league - One XFL team for every 4 NFL, make it regional. Definitely had a shot at that & now we might never know...

I thought they had 3 years to make a profit because of the cash they had available from endorsements?

They filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy which allows for the possibility of returning. Why would they file for chapter 11 if they weren’t considering a return? If they planned on quitting now they would have filed for a chapter 7. This iteration of the XFL was very successful for an inaugural season. The only reason they had to file for bankruptcy and cancel 2021 was the result of COVID. A study found that 72% of Americans would not go to a sports event until a vaccine for COVID is available. Not long after these results were published was when the XFL suspended operations and called off the 2021 season. However, they still have executives working for the XFL similar to how they had a handful of executives under contract in the lead up to this past inaugural season.

Very difficult to start a new league. Huge financial risk.
I don't think will see another one JJ.

Unfortunate, was looking forward to seeing how it played out, and it was interesting in the small amount I saw. But this virus is having nasty impacts all over the place, far just beyond medical issues. Just way life is I fear.

Is chapter 11 the same chapter Trump used to file for?

Chapter 11 holds back the creditors and allows them to restructure their debt, but continue operating. That's the version Trump's companies filed.
Chapter 7 is liquidation (going out of business).

Looks like Vince might be buying back in! Already contacting stadiums in the hot XFL markets of St. Louis and Seattle. Vinny - Escaping debt and restarting clean w/ Chapter 11 - Smart guy!
