Smithfield shutting U.S. pork plant indefinitely

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Smithfield Foods, the world’s biggest pork processor, said on Sunday it will shut a U.S. plant indefinitely due to a rash of coronavirus cases among employees and warned the country was moving “perilously close to the edge” in supplies for grocers.

Doesn’t cook up like bacon. I guess if you close your eyes you can pretend it is regular bacon. Such a low fat content makes it hard to replicate real bacon.

All the more reason to cut down meat consumption and purchase from small farms that produce high quality beef, poultry and pork.
