Easy fix. Should've handed out latex gloves and masks to every fan. Whoever refuses to wear them or takes them off would be pointed out by their fellow spectator and kicked out. Problem solved.

Too bad you weren’t in Wuhan a few months ago, all of this could have been avoided

Your corny sarcasm aside pretty sure you couldn't think of a better solution in an open air stadium than in an entire city.

Completely retarded decision. It's a flu. It's worse than the regular flu, and particularly vulnerable to the sick and elderly, but to 99% of other people even if they get it they'll be fine and most don't ever notice they have it.
People are treating this as if it's chemical warfare. Its not.

Tell that to an Italian. 18 days ago they had a total of 3 known cases. Yesterday alone they had 1500 new cases, 133 more deaths, and both those figures are accelerating.
And no, this is not comparable to a regular flu. The death rate is at least 10x greater, and that's a best case scenario, in a country that manages to contain it.

Italy has a huge older population though.

The problem is they need to quit bringing these infected mfers back into uninfected areas. That cruise ship that's been stuck off San Francisco for a week is docking today and guess where they're sending the people? San Fran? Seattle where there's already been an outbreak? Nope!
The people who live in CA stay there, everyone else gets flown to Texas and Atlanta! Awesome, spread that shit all over the south and eastcoast now instead of keeping it in CA and WA where people already have it.
Dumbfukks are running the show. That or they're intentionally trying to spread this virus all over the U.S. I'm starting to think the latter now.
Some girl that had corona from when she was in Italy recently flew into O'Hare in Chicago and spread it all around without anyone knowing. She was supposed to be in quarantine but defied the order. People are intentionally trying to spread this now. Our government included.

It does, certainly not helpful. The entire area around Indian Wells area is quite elderly too though, so you can't really be surprised when the local officials pull the plug.
Another 1800 cases in Italy today.

Just over two weeks till the first Miami matches. Since they've now started testing, the US will probably have >10k cases by then. Perhaps they can run it without spectators?

To add to this Nadal has already gone back to Spain apparently, according to ESPN but there doesn't seem to be any other info on players who have publicly withdrawn (other then Pliskova)
Interesting all the conspiracy theorists think Federer had second hand information knowing the virus could cause a bit of havoc with the schedule and therefore opted to have his surgery to avoid possible gaps in rhythm between cancelled tournaments.
Weren't some people saying Miami was worse off then Indian Wells?

This sucks. Look forward to this every year. Hope Miami is still on. I don't know what I will do without my tennis capping. March Madness might take all my money if I can't win some elsewhere.

Would have started today. US actually has 60k known cases now, and completely out of control - increased 100x in two weeks.

Still a chance of French with mini-clay season beforehand - but how the heck do they do it without a crowd? Just 10% size, but auctioned so they only get the rich penetrates?
