Oklahoma will honor 2017 Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield as part of its spring game festivities April 18.

Sooners coach Lincoln Riley announced Monday the school will unveil a statue of Mayfield at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.

OU Daily's George Stoia reported in September the Sooners were planning to commission statues for Mayfield, 2018 Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray and the Selmon brothers, Lee Roy, Lucious and Dewey. Murray's statue is expected to be unveiled in spring 2021, and the Selmons will be honored that fall.

Oklahoma has traditionally celebrated its Heisman Trophy winners in bronze. Sam Bradford, the 2008 Heisman, received the privilege in 2011.

With any luck, the Sooners will base Mayfield's statue off his postgame celebration following their 2017 win over Ohio State.

I couldn't stand him when he was at Oklahoma even though that 62-52 game against OK State was insane, so was the Rose Bowl game when Georgia hung a 54 hamburger on the Sooners defense.

And can't stand him more as a Cleveland Brown.
Baker can beat the teams with shitty defenses sure but look at his record and numbers when he and the Browns play quality teams.
He shrivels up and throws a ton of picks that's what happens.
Against quality teams he's horseshit.

One of the most overhyped player ever.
