At the satellite forums... they say the resolution at DISH compared to DirecTV on Huge screen TV's is very noticeable.

    DISH = Poor resolution

DirecTV = Better bang for the buck

      Well UPDATE -

Have Directv now and love it.. Pay and get everything. Is what it is.

Bought Firestick and the remote didn't work so I returned it..

Bought ROKU instead and have it up and working now..

They wanna charge you for everything you wanna watch.. Offer free trials for 30 days with Netflix, HULU, SLING, NFL Ticket, etc... It's a frigg'n wash!! So disappointed.. They make you lay down a creditt carddd just to activate the service which pissed me off..

I guess I might pay the $5 bucks a month for ESPN + to watch the UFC.. Everything else I pay for now on Directv and get.. Netflix I don't have so I will use the 30 day free trial also.. You do get the free regular standard channels though but that's about it.

Gonna keep a close eye on my CCard to see what is charged now..

      That's my conclusion..

Well I'm still learning all the features.. Youtube you get and other stuff with Roku.. Give me a week and let me get back to you all... I may have jumped the gun with my above post.. I'm seeing options that you can't access on Directv.. You can stream stuff on the fly..

I've had DirecTv for 25 years at least. I'm not sure about how many years with the 212 alternates though, maybe 2 or 3?

            They are all limited

            All have weaknesses sees

The best quality and most extensive tv is still traditional

I wasn't able to receive the ALT game last broadcast (blacked out.) I have no idea why? Game was in Florida... I'm in Michigan.

So far.... haven't seen one game on the ALT channel. Perhaps... it doesn't work for me. lol

OK Roku and Fire Stick streaming for TV FREE viewing is decent.. It has voice command to search for any old movies that you can view like regular channels, youtube and other stuff without being charged.. All in HD. It's on command which is cool.. Can voice command to watch any old shows like family guy, sienfeld, etc.. It will find and play.. Directv can't do that.. You can tap into all NBC sports regional and watch national televised games for free..

Better have fast internet service which I do.. No stalls or stops watching anything so far.. You do have to pay for Netflix or ESPN+ though. Understandably though

Still you gotta watch commercials and advertising always with what ever you watch, can't record either, but then again it's free every month. Can get your TV show viewing on with Firestick or ROku for sure..

Directv still far more superior with DVR capabilities and paying for all channels.. Can't be matched but you pay for that.. Roku and Firestick is free..

If I was broke I'd go Roku and Firestick with high speed internet service for sure.. It's not a WASH!!!

I think you can bypass NFL Sunday ticket, and NBA league pass with Roku and Firestick, not sure yet though, I think you will be able to free stream most games..

Maybe someone else can chime in on that????

                        Is Youtube better than Hulu?

I've never tried Youtube so not even sure what features it has.

Can you save shows with Youtube like Hulu?

Does DirectTV still have Dish reception issues ? If so that’s a deal breaker it’s fukKing almost 2020 & I will not be interrupted by poor weather, for Christ sakes I’m down in Florida & use to have big problems via satellite & I was always livid back in the late 1990’s.

It does have a setup browser for both Firestick and Roku. Walks you thru it and then it gives you a menu to purchase channels like HBO, Starz, Showtime, youtube Channel, Netflix, Pandora, etc....

Both Firestick and Roku offer MANY free viewing channels, like NBC, ESPN, basic movie channels, etc..

So Nito and Cyclone you can get but have to pay $7 a month on either Firestick or Roku to get either. To activate Firestick or Roku at the start up menu you do have to lay a Creddit Carrd number down which isn't charged but stored on Roku or Firestick. I didn't like that. I see now it's to click and buy channels to view.. It then automatically charges your card every month when you choose to pay for channels that aren't free...

Like ESPN + I'll be charged $5 a month for that now. That's all I paid for..

Firestick, Roku, AppleTV, Nvidia Shield, etc are streaming devices. Nitro, Cyclone, Helix, etc. are IPTV services, not apps. You need a proper iptv player app to watch these services. Smarters, TiviMate (what I prefer) are just two of many that are available (Google Play Store, Amazon Store, etc.). Some are free with a pay option for more customization, some are paid. Doing some research beforehand will save a lot of questions/headaches later.

Gotta call in with Directv!! Saving are always there to be had.. Pain in the asss though to call every 3 months but you gotta do it.. Just $50 off your monthly bill adds up to a $600 savings per year. It's worth a few phone calls every year at 15 minutes per call on average to save $600 a year..

If you don't call regularly then you're just being lazy and giving Directv your money for free every month...

This package comes with 3 connections which means you can use their service on up to 3 devices simultaneously!
