San Antonio’s Kawhi Leonard has Los Angeles — preferably the Lakers — at the center of his preferences for a trade destination, league sources tell ESPN.

#6Pretty much called this from the get go. Knew that wherever Kawhai lands Lebron follows and I think it's guaranteed Lakers make win championship. Can't wait to buy a Lebron Lakers jersey!Comment -

#8So which is it Woj? Kawhi asked to be traded or he hasn't said anything to the Spurs?

Sources: So far, Leonard has expressed nothing directly to Spurs about future. Leonard simply wants out. He doesn't have to ask anyone.
He notifies the NBA of his destination list. Of course talks w/ SA will ensue.
Business chess.

#15i don't know how many times i have to say it gregg popovich will not help out a western conference team in a trade, it's called the gregg popovich rule if kawhi wants to go to la he will have to wait a year
The San Antonio Spurs may end up trading injured superstar Kawhi Leonard this summer, but you can probably take the Los Angeles Lakersoff the list of possible destinations.
As Mark Heisler of the Orange County Register reported, "It’s one of Popovich’s cardinal rules not to help Western Conference rivals, much less one with the tradition and resources of the Lakers."
Popovich, for instance, was less than pleased in 2008 when the Memphis Grizzlies traded Pau Gasol to the Lakers, a deal that helped pave the way for two titles in Los Angeles.Comment -

#19If Kawhi wants a supermax and out of SA, he's not going to get a say in where he gets traded. If he does get traded in the West, Sac Town is also interested and Kawhi would never be heard from again.Comment -

#22Simple, he has leverage since he's entering his final guaranteed year (next year is a player option). No team is going to pay a king's ransom for him if it'll be nothing more than a year rental unless it's a team that's in the hunt near the trade deadline and need another player to go the distance. Even then, you're risking Kawhi not getting hurt or sucking at that time which would bring his stock down.Comment -

#24Hence why I mentioned unless they were in the hunt why pay a fortune for a rental. However, unless you're Boston or Philly, who's going to put up the assets to have him for 1 year? Assuming Pop refuses to deal with the West, Boston and Philly are the only two parties with a reason to get into a bidding war with the assets to do it and they may opt to sweat out SA until it gets near the trade deadline to see if he can stay healthy.Comment -

#34Lakers have Deng, Caldwell-Pope and Lopez on huge money (don't know how much longer they have to be honest) and who wants them? Caldwell Pope possibly but that's a stretch.
Don't see how they can make a championship winning team assuming they have to give up some solid young guys to the Spurs, leaves slim pickings on the bench?
*Should of done some research first looks like only Deng to worry about. That's a contract they're going to regret.Comment
