KD is 1 of 9 the last two fourth quarters when the game was on the line. I think it says a lot about him.
I saw this over and over first hand in OKC.
Last year was such an easy run for him. The Warriors were never tied or down in a series and there was never any pressure.
Now that he actually had a stiff test, he is showing what he is really made of.
He turns into a passive player and is afraid to will the team to victory. Hell, even in game four he gave up the ball to Thompson when Thompson was guarded in the corner.Comment -

I don’t get it. Last year, in the finals, they were unstoppable. They scored 120 points in their sleep. Now, they couldn’t get to 100. This is the not same team as last year. Maybe they lost the hunger and thought they could just show up. Curry and Durant will probably win another championship but Lebron has definitely shown to be a much superior player.Comment -

I remember when he was with OKC. It was a semi final game against Clippers. They trailed Clippers by 2 with 6 seconds left. Westbrook was fouled and had to make FTs. KD couldn't bear to watch those FTs. He sat down and looked to other way.

Here is what I see, game 1 of this series Kerr employed Durant in the high post. Durant went off and it worked! Houston has been able to adjust to this strategy by staying home on klay and curry and living with Durant getting a shot or drive. The problem is Durant is not a facilitator and alot of the time settles for a jumper playing right into Houston's plan. Actually Houston will even leave a mismatch like Chris Paul on Durant in the high post encouraging him to shoot over the smaller defender. The warriors need to get back to what made them so deadly in the first place - curry brings the ball up and they run pick n roll early offense and then start whipping that ball around till they hit an open shooter or layup. There are a lot of sharp posters in this thread that see right through Durant.
It was so pathetic how Kerr had to coddle him and tell him stories about Michael Jordan on the sideline to try and calm him down.
Do you think Jordan, Kobe, or Lebron would ever need to be coddled like that? Hell no.
Even Chris Paul’s is up in guys faces during the break being a leader.
Durant is a beta. He can’t lead and will never be the best player in the world. He hit that shot in the Finals last year but there really was no pressure. The Warriors were never threatened in that series.
Now there is some adversity and we’re seeing what he is really made of.
Maybe with the injury to Paul it will let him off the hook and Curry and Thompson will bail him out.Comment
