It's the easiest thing in the world. You hold the bat at 2 pm and aim.

    It's not that hard.

I had to watch Lester put the bat head facing down and pop up.

You ever tried to bunt against a major leaguer throwing 95mph? They get it done a lot, but it's not that easy.

Lester is one of the better bunting pitchers.

Not 95, but yes. Roy Smith.

                Pitched for the Twins.

I agree... all MLB players should know how to lay a bunt down. You shouldn't be in the majors if you can't.

The saber numbers tell them it doesn't score as many runs as swinging away

This is a fact. Love the clowns that think they know more than lifelong baseball men.

And yes, getting one down coming up & in at 96 is not as easy as one might think.

                          Common sense.

If you hold a bat with the end of the bat handle closer to you, the ball has to go down. Doesn't matter how fast it's coming in.

Unfortunately it's becoming a lost art for position players as well, never mind pitchers.

The truth is, a few well timed and well placed bunts, in the early innings, by players making league minimum salaries, can win games just as efficiently as wishing for late inning long balls by overpriced hood rats.

I long for the days of Tim Raines, Vince Coleman, Chuck Knoblauch, Louis Castillo, Kenny Lofton, et all...

Our home team is awful at the little things. Went to Doyers@ Padres a few weeks ago and watched Jose Pirela try to one hand a routine fly ball and he dropped it. Sad.

Pretty hard bunting 90mph + sinking fastballs for pitchers.. They are also trying not to pop it up but lay it down softly.. Bunting is an art that needs to be practiced... Pitchers pitch, most don't hit worth a shiiit at the Major levels...
