They are primarily a propane supplier along with other energy or utility services. I like the overall XLU play just because the interest rates are at an all time low again. Utilities operate best on low interest rates and usually a good place to park some money I would otherwise like to place in a savings account but due to the non existent savings rates I just can't justify any more. My other savings technique is to utilize bonds which are a way of guaranteeing a return, but I find that utilities typically would yield a little more return while also allowing for more liquidity.

I'm on a rollercoaster ride this morning with AGEN. Started the day up 30% and thought about selling. Held off and watched it plummet and go down 15%, now it's at even for the day. Wow.

Homie has a point here, for me it is more or less a savings account although not exactly. A place to park cash that I can liquidate quickly if I choose but still get a return for putting funds there. Or a place that you check on every week and not be micromanaging the chart on a 15 minute basis. I also like growth stocks, an even speculative shooting star stocks but at a much lower rate of investment. When I do, a lot of the time the money will come from this stock pile.
