Bud, this (shipping/transports) is out of my area of opinion. A quick look at the charts (Hockey stick) my natural inclination is to take some % profits.

For the last year or so, I've been materials (rare earth ALB etc), Uranium, Quantum, Nuclear.

    Best of luck.

I'm big on REIT's, I like the passive income generated by the dividends.
ORC (the darling of my 401k) can't stop going up the past week. ORC has been a force this past week, and the dividend is 18%

        Regarding Diana Shipping (DSX)
I see Genco rejected there offer and DSX went up. Is it better for there stock price to merge with Genco or remain independent.

One observation for what's it's worth, which might be nothing but ...
I subscribe to a service which daily/bi-weekly/weekly reports without prejudice insider buying and selling. All I'm telling you is that for the last year or so the buyers have been 10 percent of the sellers. In short I'm seeing 10 more sellers than buyers, and that has been consistent over the past year. Do as you may with that info.

I am glad I kept ZIM. Got sold over the weekend and now up another 30%. Almost doubled my investment. Hope you bought some last month.

No, I'm pretty much maxed out as far as exposure. I have a TON of ammo and caught in the precarious position of not knowing if I want the market up or down. LOL

                Happy you did well!!

Really like the business model of PSTL https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/PSTL. Solid long term hold with a nice 5.2% dividend and sharp management team.

Just finished article on Boomer's aging, like 10K per DAY!

Anyway 3 Senior Care reit's I just took a small position in NHI, OHI, and SBRA. All 5% + Div.

Also, gave out ET (Energy xfer) circa $16 a while ago. Circa $19 today and just got my first circa 7% div yesterday Looking into AMLP supposedly a competitive equal. They just create the conduits for gas & oil distribution for a fee.

                      Will check PSTL later.

                      Best,

Nasher, you going to put some effort into Baseball this year?

Great long-lasting thread. I always pick up some ideas on here.

                        What I've been doing lately:

                        *SELLING: GBTC and BITQ
...I like the underlying assets. Theme of the day = trimming the fat on high Expense Ratios.

                        *BUYING:
                        1) STRC: Love the attack on the Fixed Income mkt.
                        2) Seagate and Western Digital: Picked up some Hard Drive manufacturers. They control 80% of the market. Virtual monopoly play.
                        3) Silver. Still feel like there are bargains.
Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?

Speaking of buying the dip. Check out DEO. It's been pummeled and could fall further. I'm salivating waiting for it to fall a bit more and will then buy. Too much to write as to my reasoning but suffice to say the new CEO is a ruthless slasher type who has replaced a DEI hire who was an unmitigated disaster.
New adult in charge has already jettisoned a lot of superfluous garbage with more culling to come. They recently cut their dividend and issued not so rosy earnings projections for 2026. Predictably the stock price plunged on the bad news. That's good news for the patient investor, over reaction is our ally. https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/DEO

                            Best wishes to all.

Seems sector sentiment is not great. 5 year chart pretty ugly. Think I'll pass on this one, but if you can get me a bottle of Oban single malt it would be much appreciated. LOL.

Head winds on the horizon for sure. Dipped another $3 today, hoping it goes down to mid 60's then I'm in. Booze is never going out of style, they projected the demise of tobacco stocks and they were way wrong (ask any PM or MO holder). There is money to be made in vice.

Wishing the best of good buys for all.

This has been a good thread. I always pick up some good tips.

*Sector I'm DCA'ing into now = Hard Drives (STX and WDC).
...Those two companies form 80% of the mkt. Almost a monopoly.
...I keep reading reports on Supply dried up. But demand is constant.
...Been rising almost daily. Feel like it's worth 2% of your portfolio.

What are people’s thoughts on Gemini ? Not too long ago it was $8. Look at the 52 week as well. Not sure what to think with this.

No path to profitability, stock cratered 89% since ATH and most importantly:
Entire C suite resigned: “Gemini announced that it will be parting ways with each of Marshall Beard, chief operating officer, Dan Chen, chief financial officer, and Tyler Meade, chief legal officer, effective as of February 17, 2026. In addition, Marshall Beard resigned from his role as a member of the company’s board of directors, effective today.”
                                                      seekingalpha.com/...
                                                      - “In an effort to become profitable, the restructuring is expected to include a reduction of up to 200 employees globally, including staffers in Europe, the U.S. and Singapore, and representing about 25% of Gemini's (GEMI) total global workforce as of Feb. 4, 2026.”

Been my experience that buying stocks at the all time low while wistfully looking at its all time high price never ends well. The stock is tanking for a reason and the big players know why while us peons (the general public) are the last to find out why and are left holding the bag - an empty one. Just my experience.

Wishing all the best of good buys.

Brookfield Asset Management BAM is looking very interesting to me. Rock solid company with top notch management team. $72 billion market capital currently paying a comfortable 4.5% dividend. Recent dip makes for a good entry point for a long term hold.
