Here's why they did it.

He's done in NY and they have him going to either Denver or the Jags next year and they don't want him to get hurt. It's the only thing that makes sense.

Best of both worlds...they lose the rest of their games, don't mess up their draft position and they don't ruin the rookie.

And for all their faults and inabilities in the age of passing Marino never got one, Moon never got one, Kelly never got one, Rivers never even got a sniff....

Just amazes me but I guess it comes down to Defense above all else.

When He had everything this year he still sucked. The outcry I’m hearing on ESPN is unbearable. The fact is he is killing the team each week. Yes it is depleted but a great quarterback (like he thinks he is) would be doing better than this. You see that slop Rodgers was playing with? He makes them a good team. He leaves they are awful. Eli might be the most overrated quarterback in NFL history not named Donovan McNab.

get your eyes checked, Eli is not the problem, a really bad offensive roster is. How is he killing the team? go ahead, show me because I can give you a highlight reel of the joke of an offensive line they've given him, practice squad receivers , no running game and a tight end who did nothing but drop the ball. Please, save your hot take for somewhere else.

I have always thought Eli was a throw em open qb. Let's add up the payroll of the Giants and how much has been playing? Certainly hurts the depth of a team to pay 20 million to one player.

Would have been better off saying listen, we're 2-9, probably going to have a top 5 pick where we will likely draft our QB of the future, Eli will be go finish his career in Jacksonville or Denver, we want to look at Geno and especially Davis Webb for this team and evaluate for next year.

Instead they scapegoated Eli and made it sound like 2-9 is directly because of him. They have zero WR's, zero running game, zero offensive line. Bad bad move by the Giants today.

Also, I've heard they went to Eli and said listen you can start the last 5 games (mainly to keep his streak of 210 straight starts in tact) but we are going to pull you and play Geno/Davis Webb at some point. Eli, rightfully so, said fukk that.

It's amazing to think the Giants haven't scored 30 points in a game since week 17 of 2015... 28 straight games without scoring 30+.

Manning would do well on any team that can block for him, has a decent running game and some talent in the wide receiver positions.. Denver Broncos could sure use him.. Maybe even the Dallas Cowboys the way Dak Prescott is regressing...

Giants should trade him and begin the rebuilding process if they can.. Entire Giants team is garbage..

I know his team sucks now but in the beginning of the year he sucked with a solid defense and a good offense. When they got hurt he got worse which i understand. He has been overrated his whole career. Yeah yeah he won two super bowls just like Trent Dilfered won one. It amazing how the quarterbacks with great defenses get the credit for the Super Bowl wins. He has always been about a above average quarterback and that is it.

Eli has no mobility and suffering PTSD. Don't even have to actually touch him to sack him, one good scare or menacing look and he goes down like a sack of potatoes. Here's a clip from earlier this season.......
