    Thursday night CFB play...
    Iowa St. +4.5

I have this number nearly dead even. 'Horns not the program they once were and Iowa St's program headed to a top program. There are a number of key players banged up a little for this one but I don't expect it will have any real say. Both CB's for the Cyclones have issues with an elbow and a hammy. Texas QB Beuchele having shoulder issues but considered very minor. With all that, should be a good game to watch and I expect the Cyclones to outscore Texas in the 2nd half for the small dog cover.

Good luck if you follow along

No doubt that Texas is not the team it once was, but to say that Iowa State is headed to a top program is just utterly stupid. A loss tonight and Iowa State has no chance become bowl eligible this season. They WILL lost at Oklahoma, at Texas Tech, at West Virginia, at Kansas State, and to TCU and Okie State at home. That adds up to a 4-8 record. 5-7 at best. They need a win to have a chance to get to 6-6. Iowa State has never been a top team and will never be a top team. Their record against Texas is 2-13. I argue that Texas has been an average team for at least 5 years, one of which included a loss to the above mentioned Iowa State. Texas may lose this game, but Iowa State will not win it. Pass/

                    BigDaddy,
As far as my comment being "stupid", I will disagree with you (completely) and call you "ignorant". Matt Campbell has brought this program to top notch with discipline and leadership. Those kids are held accountable for everything including cleaning their lockers. When he assigns players tasks to complete for a football game, they get it done because each kid has a certain responsibility they understand and they WANT to play for him. That is a top program in my book. You will see it tonight. Watch the maturity in which they play. It's quite remarkable for a college team. Oh, and coach Campbell did it in a little over a year. On top of that, he has kids around the midwest that want to play for him which is going to give his recruitment a big lift. No, they are not a top 20 program, but they are headed there and will get there.

JJ, there was a lot of speculation the the two DB's for Iowa St. and when they turned a clean bill of health, the number moved to 4.5. You might see a snap back to 5 or 5.5, but it will make little difference IMO.

                        This is a tough one.

Iowa State is improved. Texas play d better against USC.

                        No edge either way really.
