In case no one noticed, they're NOT protesting the flag. The protest started as focusing on unequal treatment of blacks in this country. The protest is now about the POTUS calling out the owners to fire anyone who doesn't stand for the anthem. Protest is part of the American culture, it's in the Bill of Rights under free speech. This is what veterans have fought and died for. In some other countries people have no right to protest and are arrested. Do we want that here? A dictatorship? We're letting Trump walk all over the constitution and Bill of Rights and if someone doesn't stand up to him now then he'll turn this into a dictatorship. I'm with the players on this one.

NFL league revenue was 13 Billion in 2016. The salary cap is 167 million or about 5.3B total. If we assume that employee cost is about 70% of the total cost to run the NFL that leaves the owners with around 6 Billion to split between themselves. NFL is a non profit, so that is roughly 187,500,000 in tax free profit per team.

That's an exaggeration, but the game is boring. And the concussion thing makes many people uneasy and less kids playing and parents coaching the game. This controversy may be what NFL needed to drum back interest. This week's ratings will probably be tops for year.

NFL hasn't been a non-profit since 2015.
