Yes, thanks SBR for a fun contest with nice prizes. While I still am not a huge fan of a contest with such a long qualifying stretch ending with such a short term based thing, there is no question that it gets people's juices flowing, and the cheering/trash talk make the Finals quite fun!

Congrats to all the teams for fighting it out until the end and good job to the Confeds for winning. As I said before the Finals, I knew a team with Bobbywaves/AutoDonk should be a prohibitive favorite to win it all - just wish I'd had the guts to put my $ where my mouth was!

You saw many complaints about this contest, even before it was announced it would be done again. The poker forum was practically dead until we got near to the end of this contest. The electricity was awesome. Thanks again SBR for another great contest. You guys will always be the first sight I go to when I wake up every morning.

I'm not a huge fan of the qualification period, but the cup itself is probably the most exciting promotion. The poker forum comes alive for a full week and so there's much chat at the tables it actually feels like a little poker community. The only people that talk in the daily are the same 5%. Denny's and myself thank you.

agree with klc and slanina.... i've heard the complaints about the World Cup, but it does indeed bring the community together, and a sense of nationalism and good times.....

a lot of smack talk, side action, and a rather live forum that can be dead as a hammer at times.....

I say keep the cup for sure (i'd heard someone say this might be the last one).....

and I agree we could knock a month of the qualifying period.....

but all in all, great job, SBR.... well run, as usual!

I too like the format of the finals from that perspective - as I said, my objection overall stems more from the qualification period being so long and then four months of effort to qualify for your team being reduced to a four day super high variance format. Personally if the qualification period was cut down to 1-2 months, I too would agree the format of the finals would be great. Plus if that happened, we would have the "finals" more often (every two or so months instead of four!) which would definitely liven the poker forum more - having such things more consistently. And I think it would also encourage more people overall to compete - many didn't compete in this year's World Cup simply because the time commitment needed to qualify was too much for them. Again if the qualification period was shorter, more might find it justifiable to put in the time to try to qualify.

Not sure why you insist on replying with the same whiney downer about quaiis every time it's mentioned. Everyone gets it. Its been posted 1000+ times over years that you and others dont like a long quali period.

Is it not possible for anyone to point out how good the finals format is and how much people seemed to enjoy it without you wanting to talk about this other subject instead each time?

You and Rudy need to go find a quiet spot you can cry and be depressed together.

Pretty rude of you frankly. I simply am trying to give constructive suggestions for how to improve the format for everyone involved, and you call it whining/crying? Whatever.

And I am talking about the format of the World Cup in general - it is impossible to evaluate the overall format without examining ALL aspects of it, not just the Finals. If you bother to read what I wrote instead of refusing to accept some constructive suggestions, I even said the format of the Finals would be great if other aspects improved - again you can't evaluate a product with looking at all aspects of it.

Take the NFL season for instance which is 16 games long. If they extended it to 50 games, I have a feeling most people (especially the players) would not like that. However, the Super Bowl this past year was amazing - would the NFL just tell people to not give constructive criticism about their product because the "Finals" (namely the Super Bowl) was awesome?

Anyway, I'm done with this. I'm happy to have constructive debates with reasonable people for trying to improve things, but clearly if your response is any indication, SBR does not want such suggestions - just want to dismiss anyone who disagrees with anything as being a whiner. And that's fine - it is their site, and they can do what they want.
