texas- cal game - another bootched call by the refs

Once again these refs and worst of all replay ofifcials don't know what the rules are- watch the call at the end of the game. guy from cal appears to score a long td run- but the idiot drops the ball before crossing line. texas player picks up the ball after the play. they ruled that it has to be an immediate recovery of the fumble. the rule reads this way.
If Instant Replay is being used at the game, the play

is reviewable because of the clear recovery in the immediate

continuing action. (If there is no such clear recovery the play may not be reviewed.)

If he determines that player fumbled before crossing the goal line
and if he can determine indisputably which team recovers the fumble, then the result of the review is a touchdown or a touchback,depending on which team recovers the ball.

not really botched imo...everyone assumed the td was good and stopped playing..eventually a few secs later the Texas guy picks up the ball off of the floor, but that was well after the momentum of the play was over..now had he dove on it immediately it would be a diff story.

Hit it on the nail. If Texas player immediately picked it up and ran it back they win. Since no one went after the ball they blew the play dead and called touchdown.

charlie strong= bad decisions. 1:30 left in the game 4th and 10 and he punts (they had 2 timeouts) did he forget his defense couldn't stop Cal all night and even if he got the ball back did he think his offense could drive about 90 yds for the tying td (at that point with no timeouts)??? They had already given up 50 points!!

Definitely was a blown call, Texas safety was kind of non chalant picking the ball up but it was done almost right away, and he did it because he saw that is was close if it was a TD or not.
