30-27 after 57 games, the over 74 is looking solid, hope they dont fade in 6 weeks like last year.

Don't be fooled, Pitt is not a good team. They have a minor league offense with pitchers who are overachieving so far. Come August, you will see Pitt go on a streak like lost 17 of their 20 games.

With El Toro's day game home run today

    Here are Pedro's day/night splits:

    daytime .300/.361/.842 w/11 HRs and 22 RBI
nightime: .192/.266/.301 with 3 HRs and 14 RBI

maybe its a fluke, or maybe they need to get his vision checked? maybe some correctable thing having to do with the differences in lighting

Rumors of Justin Upton or Carlos Quentin to the Pirates. Jameson Taillon may be a trade piece. Justin Upton, Cutch and Starling Marte in the OF sounds enticing.

I think Carlos Quentin is a much more viable option. Cheaper since he's a free agent after this season. Upton is intriguing though if Arizona really is willing to deal him. Buccos have the pitching prospects to deal for him and I would give up anyone to be able to team up a pair of athletic OFs in their prime like McCutchen & Upton. Would be a blockbuster move ....

Holy crap, they're talking about Justin Upton coming to Pittsburgh? That's awesome to hear. He would definitely help them turn the corner.

The Bucs are 30-14 at PNC. The NL has home field advantage in the W.S.

    Stephen Drew ...

That is a name to watch as the deadline gets closer. Hearing rumors the Buccos want to upgrade at short over Barmes. He probably can be had for peanuts because he's got a huge player option of $10 million for next season that isn't going to get picked up since he's still working back from injury. Looks healthy though and his bat is a plus if he works into better form as the season wears on. If you can get him for a fringe prospect could be a good investment who has a little pop in his bat.

Kinda seems like they may not be making much in the way of moves though unless something perfect falls into their laps.

    • The Pirates made a bid to acquire Phillies outfielder Shane Victorino, but talks hit a snag when Philly asked for right-hander Brad Lincoln, tweets Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
    • The Pirates are "definitely going for it" and would like to acquire an outfielder or first baseman, tweets Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com.

I'd given lincoln up... He has shown he can't be a starter with his lack of anything approaching a secondary out ptich...

he's done well in relief situations, but guys like that are a dime a dozen

Id honestly rather move Hanrahan and make Grilli closer with Lincoln the 8th inning guy. I think Hanrahan is at his peak value (was more so last year). Pirate nation wouldn't handle it well though, they just know the Hanrahan name.

totally agreed... in any year from 1993-2010 we would gotten some great value from all our bullpen guys.... this might be the best bullpen the bucs have ever had... they got about 10 guys in AAA that they can have come up and 3-4 of them would work out JUST fine..

but Pirates can't do it due to public perception... its a shame

remember Dotel got the Pirates Jason Mcdonald a few years back

Damoso Marte got the Pirates Karstens, Ohlendorf, Tabata, and co

trading bullpen talent is the way to go for sure

Arch he got picked off in like the 11th or somewhere around there. Then with Garrett Jones at 2B with no outs in like the 16th he bunts a ball right back to the pitcher and gets Jones thrown out going to third. Then the next pitch he gets thrown out stealing. He played the worst game I've ever seen a big leaguer play. Literally made 3 game changing mental errors.
