I own horses, rarely bet. Only advice i can give you is handicap yourself. There is a reason handicappers come and go they dont win
Ive gotten countless tips from walkers owners trainers.... no one really knows anything.... only thing they can do is make a horse lose by jocky pulling back.

The guys usually know their shit, but I would never blindly follow their picks. However, they're sometimes worth listening to for an insight into the race that you may have overlooked.
If you are looking to follow someone blind, the best guy is Andy Serling in NY. He is so good though that the prices on his picks has become depressed to the point of taking away the edge. That's why following public handicappers is not so great an idea. If they are actually solid, too many people follow their selections and bring the payoffs down.

It's Perloff not Purloff. That might help with google. Looks like he is on twitter. Ask him what he is doing. I am pretty sure he is no longer at TVG but could be wrong.

Know bataglia. The guy that announces ky. derby. He was in on when Pete Rose hit that pick 6. Asshole doesn't bet the horses that he gives out.

perloff not that bad actually. certainly better than schrupp and the ex mlb catcher paul loduca. if you can stomach quarter horse racing and 6 horse fields les onaka knows his stuff. horse racing basically in the toilet now except for big days. there's a top level pacer always b miki who is a machine out there. will soon break the world record of 146.4 for the mile.

Perloff is the only handicapper on TVG worth a shit; if you're going to tail someone, he's the one.

My advice would be to watch plenty of races and read a lot
Go with what you like and bet well known jockeys and trainers

What I like to do when I get the day off and I'm up early enough is go to the sportsbook,
buy a forum-preferably Gulfstream Park,
get in front of one of those mini flat screens,
turn the volume up,
listen to the cute blonde lady for an hour before the first race at Gulfstream Park
If no one is sitting next to me, I turn on he two flat screens on either side of me and write down the numbers for the horses they flash on the screen for other racetracks that are in my forum.
That way, I got at least 3 tracks being capped.

What does this mean. Why u need to write down the opening numbers of other tracks. Please tell me you cant afford the program?

lotteries with their 50% takout would be number one. at least in horse race betting you are absolutely guaranteed to be paid if you win. trying to wrangle a payout from these offshore sports wagering sites takes all the fun out of it. if you win money with tvg or any other u.s. based wagering platform you can get your winnings flashed back to your bank account immediately. no one has ever been stiffed.

To be more clear, I buy a publication, or I get them for free with my players card. (Only $2 if I run out of free vouchers) Hint: To all of you that come to Vegas, get a players card right away, they give you a vouchers for free forums.
Then, I have 3 T.V.'s on at once.
I look at the three screens and mark down what the people post up and mark it on my form.
I compare it to what I handicap.
Then I determine what the they have and what I have.
Then I make my wagers.

I agree.
The point of horses to me is to have fun.
Get free drinks and enjoy the thrill of the races.
I lose a lot more than I win.
My worst day is when I lost $120
My best was when I went home over $500-but that doesn't happen too often.
Once again, I lose more than I win, but I don't mind because I have fun doing that.

Not if you play contests Gold. If you check out Derby Wars you will see some of the same players on top of the leaderboard. Some of them make about 5-10K a month playing the ponies in contests against other players.

I have been playing DW for about 3 years, and up a bit of $$. Some of the big players are making serious cash. I agree that parimutual for most is a losing game, but playing tournaments can be quite profitable.

Always b miki is in top form right now, he's beaten some damn good pacers last few outings. Track announcer Ed Burgart at Los al is a damn good QH handicapper but he doesn't give out to much information. And as stated from someone else the blonde from gulfstream might be the best in the Biz she's givin out more 10-1+ then anyone I've ever seen.

As A Pro for 11 years till 2000 I barley watch any more. One exception is the next couple of months. Ill take a peak every now and then at Del Mar And Saratoga and play a little. Gulfstream in the winter also. One handicapper I do listen too is Caton Breadar during the winter at Gulfstream her horses to watch are very good do not always win but are close.

Lots of bad info in on this thread.....don't know where to start.
best handicapper there is is Les Onaka on TVG.........quarter horse racing. Hands down, not even close.
No no such thing as $.10 trifectas. Only $.10 bet there is is superfectas.
Rich Perloff is ok, not great. But he's had some great days picking, mostly bad though.
horse racing is a game of inside information. Why do you think a 20-1 morning line horse gets bet down to 7-1 at race time and wins going away?? It happens all the time. Inside people know what horses are peaking, training well, etc. etc. it's a very DIRTY game!!
and of course dealing with 15%_26% tax takeouts right off the top and then winners having to pay taxes on their winning amount make it nearly impossible to make a profit anymore.....

actually retama park has or had .10 trifectas but no one else would go that route. only have to pay taxes if you hit a 300-1 exotic bet so that's incorrect info. les onaka charges for his picks but he takes it seriously unlike the other tvg clowns who don't bet or pick anything. interns do it and they just read it off the teleprompter.
