he would be vilified if he went to GS either way. it would've been different, for example, had the Spurs dominated OKC and he decided to leave at that point.

now you're looking at a potential situation where, if OKC loses tonight, he'll basically be viewed as the one to have choked away the series. so for him to go and join GS at that point would essentially make the statement that it wasn't his fault OKC lost, but rather his teammates.

Durant shot 61% and 66% in Games 2 & 3 respectively, but just 33% and below for the other 4 games. he's averaged 28% from 3. he's also had 23 turnovers over the first 6 games compared to 11 steals.

you simply can't post such a stat line and then leave your team for the team who potentially beats you in a 7 game conference final.
