Coaching is overrated in the NBA. Even if Luke Walton was the best coach in the NBA, the Lakers might win 25 games at most. Their roster is horrible.

People are giving Kerr and Walton too much credit for the Warriors. The Warriors were already a 50+ team before they even got there. Their system helps, but it's more simply the natural progression of a young team getting better, and Curry becoming the best player in the league.
Luke won't have any of those advantages in LA. Unless the Lakers draft another Kobe or Shaq, they will continue to suck. Durant won't go there, and Westbrook will be on the downside of his career if he decides to go.

Situational coaching is crucial in the NBA if you want to win a championship. The offensive sets are pretty much the same everywhere...no one is innovating. Defensive rotations are the assistant's jobs to teach in practice.
